Heh, you need to broaden your horizons.  Just because is a MW game doesnt mean the mech will always be the "King of Battle".  Try something new, ya might like it.

That's exactly what I want, something new. There are plenty of games on the market today that allow you to fight in uber battle armor suits, drive tanks, and drive helicopters/vtols. How many games have been released since BF2142 that allows you to drive mechs?

Quote

Have you ever heard of a game called Battlefield 1942//Vietnam//Modern Warfare? This game is Battlefield: Battletech/Mechwarrior, plain and simple. Pretty much the only major difference (vehicle wise) is that instead of humping a spawn point for a uber vehicle *jet* (who can hold E the best?), you have to earn it yourself. And there are plenty of tanks in Battefield. You actually see large tank battles on some maps.

Yeah, I've played the BF games. Left them after taking 5 shots with a sniper rifle(50cal) at a friend(so I know he wasn't doing anything "questionable) at about 100 yards and all 5 shots missed. I left the game and uninstalled right then.

Surely, there will be a way to play with all the mechs. If not, it better not take long to "level" up.

I thought you have 2 game types? Solaris Arena and Trial of Annihilation.
in ToA you start with a light mech or tank and have to earn cash to get a bigger mech.

But in Solaris Arena, I thought each team can use whatever, for team vs team competition, not being limited by the game to just a tank or light mech?

I'm not the only one that just wants to drive mechs, F--- all this rollplay BS

Don't be hatin on the RP, you don't gotta RP, you can kill or be killed in a mech just the same. ::)

In short in matters battle armor, aerospace and omnimech
I am the very model of a rabid fan of Battletech

You'll just have to make a lot of friends, who don't mind sticking to smaller vehicles for awhile, while they donate their c-bills to you to go buy a mech.

a link would be welcomed, if you would enlighten me :-X

And you play PlanetSide to get a rough preview of this. Amirite?

Tried Planetside, loved it, but it does something to my laptop (which plays crysis on decent settings) that makes it overheat and crash every time, so I stopped playing.

Laptops fail, tbh. If ya got a desktop now, they gave everyone a free month a couple weeks ago. Download and give it a try now, still lots of fights to be had.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

I have to steal every minute possible to play games.  I don't have much time for RP.  I need to get in, have a good time, then get out.  I hope "Solaris Arena" is the standard server setting.  Having the RP as the main setting can hurt a mod by turning off a great amount of players.  Mods need as many players as they can keep.  Personally, I think what DICE's minor RP element (the awards and unlocks) with BF2 hurt their game's experience.  A large portion of the players focused on themselves and their achievements instead on helping their team to kick butt in a current battle.

On a lighter note, I've been a regular lurker since about Nov-Dec 2007.  You guys have done a great job with your vision.  I can't wait to get in game.

Welcome to the forums.

Remember guys, this is not a long term leveling like in WoW or an RPG, this occurs mostly within one battle.

Nothing carrys over from the last game you played. Each round you start out with X C-bills. So realistically we will never see an atlas in the begining of a match right?

Not necessarily. As said a couple of times, it is possible to pool money on one player, so if you can get enough people to donate c-bills to you, you might find yourself in an Fafnir, Atlas, Blood Asp or Kodiak at the beginning of the round.

On another note would you get C-bills for assist kills?

The whole scoring system is very much being worked on at this time, so I can't comment on that. We'd certainly like to support this to further encourage teamplay, but as said a few posts earlier, c-bills are already being rewarded for destroying components on a vehicle or Mech which might at least have to suffice as an interim solution.

Quoted for Truth. That factor Ruined BF2 and BF2142 for me. Nothing quite like not playing the game for 3 months only to find everyone I play against has all of the upgrades and I'm stuck with my standard issue rifle.

Kinda hard considering first release doesnt have a mech lab.....That and you dont spawn with enough cbills for a mk2 right off the bat.

Then I guess a stock uziel with it's dual PPCs will have to do the job.

You gotta earn your mechs, and they arnt cheap. You wont spawn with enough for anything but a tank or light mech.
Quote
HUH?!?!? Your telling me that basically I have to earn a decent mech? ??? Man, if I wanna drive a tank, I'll go play COD:WAW. Isn't there a play mode where the mechs are open to anyone to drive(those are the servers I'll be in).
Who says light 'mechs aren't decent?  Depends on whose using them and how they're using them.

Oh, don't get me wrong, a light mech can be very deadly in the right situation. I'm quite effective with them in MW4.

Personally I have to argue for RP, last thing I want is there to be assault mech spam every second.
That's the big hope I have for this over.. oh say mechwarrior 5, that more options will be open and light mechs will be able to bring down heavy's in an actual combat tactical situation.
It is all about variety of experience for me, otherwise popping in for an assault/heavy slugfest every time i play will get really, really old.
And to those who speak of Bf2 and 2142, the first few initial ranks give you more than enough unlocks to get those of your choice, and the stock guns were not that bad.
That said I think stat padding ruined bf2 in a way 1942 and Vietnam were immune too, a little bit of my soul dies everytime a new FPS game gets a stat tracking system.
