I wish someone during an interview would ask him if he is aware of us or other mech mods and his viewpoint on them.

That's probably exactly what Wiesman and Co. DON'T want.  People getting interested or knowing about another mechwarrior "game" that isn't theirs, and one released for "free" (you'll need Crysis of course).

And to be fair most people don't really know about us unless they are specifically looking up new stuff relating to mechwarrior/battletech as a whole.

Also the topic at hand wasn't really about their new game but more or less about dealing with IP's as game companies.

I would think he probably loves the fact that people are going out and "living" in his world. That they care enough to go out and make it their world too. To live, love and form memories that will last a life time is a HUGE complement. And with his stance on giving MW4 out free it looks like he likes the idea of the game world growing in all ways, not just the ones he makes money from(though you could say it will trickle back to him the more popular the free stuff gets). More then that the fact that he has fought for so long to keep these worlds alive kinds points to the fact that these are his "baby's". He does all this and made the worlds for fun. That he got paid to do it was just a really cool side affect. ;)

I am one of those people that has lived in the worlds he has created, Battletech just being my personal fav. I cant wait for the free MW4. I cant wait for MW:LL. I cant wait for MW3015. I cant wait for my weekly Battletech game ;). Thank every one of you that has worked hard to make the Battletech world more colorful and alive with every polly rendered, story told and Mech downed.

I wish more people on these boards were like you. Excepting of course, the anti-clan attitude :P

What's interesting about this is that Chris Remo, the interviewer, gave us the direct spotlight on Shacknews when we got our license and has been passively following the mod. I think it's fair to say he knows about MW:LL and probably popped the question but like you said, Jordan doesn't want any acknowledgment of those mods because there's no direct control.. IGN also knows about us but probably didn't pop the question either in their interview to Pirahna and Jordan.

This is kind of what i was hopping for when i clicked the link in the first place. I thought I would post it here any way. Since he was talking about controlling your IP i would guess he already knows about this mod. It would be kind of nice if he would stop by or shoot a hello over here.

Interesting little comment there. Means either more books, or a movie is being looked at.

Either one is good.

There are lost of books already

I think a lot of people have a secret desire for a feature mech film rising up in them for quite some time now. It would be good to come out of the closet to the world with how awesome our nerdy fetish really is. It would have to be, you know, actually good tho, and not the crappy adaptation movies usually are of these kinds of things.

This can become a reality, but for that to happen, we'll need a block buster movie based on a video game to open up the market.

For a long time movies based on comic books were horrible and low budget, then Spiderman came out, and now there's a new comic book movie every few months. Same goes for movies based on Saturday morning cartoons, although Ninja Turtles 1/2/3 were bad ass, the market didn't really open up until recently with Transformers. Even so, most cartoons have a comic book series as well, so I guess they're pretty much the same. /nerdoff
~Comic/Cartoon to Live-Action Movie List~

Movies based on games have a horrible track record and no studios want to pick them up. I hate to envoke these 3 letters on the forums of a TRUE game, a MECH game, but my prediction is that if the WoW movie does good, then other game movies will follow. First they need to prove they can base a movie on a game and make it serious and interesting, and not just have lame inside jokes througout the entire movie. If any game based movie is going to blast open the market and blaze a trail, it'll be WoW.

Unfortunatly I'm going to have to agree with static, hollywood likes to pride themselves on being new and interesting but they arn't, its the one guy who makes something new that opens up a genre to those producers who won't invest a red cent unless they know they will make a dollar for every cent they invest.

Once the genre is proven to work and make money, then we will have our movie...though I wish the model was wrong...I wants it nows!!!! :'(

In short in matters battle armor, aerospace and omnimech
I am the very model of a rabid fan of Battletech

i would much rather see a mini series... that way they can get the introdutions and explainations out of the way while leaving enough room to have a plot. i think a movie couldn't even begin to touch the depth BT has to offer. maybe after the general public gets introduced to BT, a full length movie would be cool.
It's fumbles... it was always fumbles...

You know what, if Battletech made an emergence into popular Scifi format on TV, I think it could be huge. Done along the lines of Battlestar Galactica, or Babylon 5. Start it out like a year before Krensky split from the inner sphere. Do like 18 episodes a season, it could be epic!

I would have to agree that tha Scifi mini would be quite amazing. Its not like they do not have a small universe to choose from :)

I'm pretty sure that's what James Cameron thought as well. Or Chris Roberts.

I mean, Michael Bay at least had Megan Fox and huge fighting robots saying thoughtful things...

No, I don't believe for just one bit that a MechWarrior series or a MechWarrior movie could become an actual hit in terms of commercial success. The universe just isn't remotely as un-nerdy as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings have become.
A series or movie could be very well done - and still fail all expectations, much like T:SCC.
