Welcome to the 21st Weekly Update by the team of MechWarrior: Living Legends, a Crysis total conversion modification, which covers the activities of the fourth week of August of 2009.

This week's update features texture work on some of the Inner Sphere's war machinery: the popular Bushwacker can't wait to show its shiny new clothes to all of you! In addition, we'll take a closer look at some of the bases on SA_Inferno.

Textures done: Bushwacker

After several weeks with updates on Clan war machinery, here is yet another representative for the Inner Sphere - the popular medium class Bushwacker has received its textures as you can see on the screenshot below.

SA_Inferno: More details on the bases

As explained and demonstrated in the most recent updates, we've put quite some thought to how our maps and in particular the bases could be filled with more life. The bases on SA_Inferno are still receiving a lot of care and detail work and the screenshots below show some of that.

Playtest Impressions

Again, here are a few pictures from this week's playtest.

Bushwacker looks great!  I don't mind so much the lack of teeth.

Yay no teath! :P

The textures go right along with the other's we have seen and are wonderful. I particularly like the detail on the base, it makes it much more of a living thing!

Keep up the great work, we are all pulling hard for you to do a great job with this ala blizzard style: When its ready it will be done!

After almost a year following MWLL, I finally had to decloak out of lurker mode when I saw my favourite ride got its textures! ;D Kudos to the artist, it truly is a thing of beauty.

WHERE ARE THE %$#@ing TEETH!!?

<layperson> Am I completely out to lunch in thinking this texture is separate from the "paint scheme" of the mech, and that things like Clan/House decals, camo pattern and teeth would be be part of the paint job, not the "basic" texture as such? </layperson>

P.S. Greetings to all the Devs and players I may or may not have shot up in MW4:V and Mercs. Can't wait to hop into the cockpit and mix it up with the big boys again!

because i know someone will say something- those yellow balls in that one ss are actually razor fences, the location of the asset used got moved before there was time to fix them but the screeny shown was just so epic that the lack of razor wire fences didn't matter :P

These are just base metal textures.  I think they are planning on making another detail pass once all mechs are on the same artistic level.  I'm pretty sure that's already been stated somewhere.  Go teeth!  ;D

Woohoo Id like to see team color filters on top of all the mechs.

Id love to see the inner sphere mechs decked out in vibrant schemes like the Sword of Light or Lyran Regulars.

Bushwacker has to be one of the best finished models I've seen yet.

Sanny,

As the former lead level designer for MWLL, I usually do not comment on the updates. IMHO opinion, the ss you are referencing is hardly epic. Here are some constructive comments criticisms I will offer.

1. Good use of 3D terrain offered to the player by using the road tools to create ramps from one base level to the next.

2. Good use of stock Crysis concrete structure brushes.

3. Good use of stock Crysis destructible, exploding tanks.

4. As you probably know, the terrain texture in this base area needs decals to break up the repetitive pattern of the terrain texture. Also some disturbed terrain in this area may add to the battle scarred look.

5.With the use of terrain decals and disturbed terrain, the near perfect look of the terrain lines will depart from the newly painted look.

I will have to lament the un-textured look of Hunter's missile silo model.

I know ... priorities ... priorities .... priorities.

In the pretty up stage of this project, as you all know, ...

God is in the details but do not become seduced by the mindset of making it "perfect".

Whether we all admit it or not MWLL is now in a race with Smith and Tinker. As for me,I would sure like to see you guys win this race!!!

Good work!

Cheers,

Aidan

P.S. The Bushy looks Pro !!!

Hey MWLL team, can we have some HUD screens in the playtest? Actual gameplay from a players point of view?
