Just did a quick search for 'ammo explosion' and from what I can tell, they aren't in the beta and not certain for the full release.
If there are no ammo explosions, doesn't that take a major means of balance (and added depth) out of the game? Laser boats risk
shutdown or blowing up from overheating, but gunboats risk... running out of ammo, only to go reload and come back for more?
Yeah, there's CASE, but doesn't that only stop cooked off ammo from chain reacting to adjacent sections and totally coring a mech?
More of a damage control measure, not a 'Get out of Ammo Explosion' free card, right? Correct me if I'm wrong...

It always seemed to me that the exploding ammo threat was a good opportunity for ballistic-heavy mechs to ride the line between
damaging opponents and damaging themselves, just like energy-based mechs do. Sort of a game within a game, as well as a good
way to make mechs feel like a complex war machine, not like a guy in a big mech-shaped suit *cough*MW4*cough* On that note,
is there any word about critical hits to weapons/components/electronics?
Just wondering...
