Welcome to the 23rd Weekly Update by the team of MechWarrior: Living Legends, a Crysis total conversion modification, which covers the activities of the second week of September of 2009.

Welcome to September's second weekly update featuring the finalised cockpit of the Clan's heavy Mad Cat/Timberwolf, some of the most recent changes to the desert battlefield of SA_Sandblasted and yet again a couple of playtest impressions. Enjoy!

Mad Cat / Timberwolf: Cockpit view

You've already seen the cockpit of the Inner Sphere's Owens, this week we're presenting to you the cockpit of the Clan's Mad Cat / Timberwolf.

SA_Sandblasted: New skybox

The screenshot below document the current skybox on SA_Sandblasted, which has recently undergone further detail improvements to appear more realistic and increase immersion.

Playtest Impressions

Again, here are a few pictures from this week's playtest.

Wow. That's an impressive update. Again, excellent stuff.

Love the quad and the shadowcat, that showdown is just nifty looking.

Hrms, how best to put this?

:) UnBelEvAbaLe :)

You are really starting to get the sense that this will be an awesome game from the still's were getting. The attention to detail is wonderful. I do not want to sound to much like a fanboy, but in this case just wow.

Keep up the great work, and I especially like that we will be getting some real cockpit displays rather than the generic 'hud,' that is a great point for additional immersion!

Oh fapp yes.

Remember when I said in that C3i thread that information sharing and innovative ways of seeing the battlefield are a major turn-on for me?

Well in-game real-deal-no-shit displays are also one.

But... Can we replace the Lite-Brite array in the cockpit with just... general switches and shit? No offense but that kinda looks like something from a 1950s sci-fi, especially since it's tiled so obviously.

It just needs more realistic-looking crap and clutter. Not enough to get distracting (not any more than what is in any flight simulator game, or even MechWarrior 3 for that matter), but...

Things like the black/yellow banded switches that are flanking the screens in here and the like. Knobs and buttons and crap like that.

Do those yellow screens actually work or are the cougar and catapult on there just for looks?

Regardless great stuff.

By the way, anyone notice in playtest picture 2, the SRM is all banged up and broke? :)

Will you see the legs and the feet of the player (those would be your legs...) in the cockit or do you see those pedals?

Love the cockpit but can we do without it? If we don't want to see the cockpit talking up half our screen on a certain mech can we do like they did in vanilla crysis and switch it off? Only reason i ask is because the bottom might get in the way with pesky BA running about, for mech combat though it will be great.
All of my posts are of my personal opinions unless obviously otherwise.

It's just for looks and is just a place hold at the moment.  The screen's don't actually show targeting info you targeted, etc (they would be hard as hell to see anyways considering it'll be moving everywhere when you are moving, and are not 100% visible depending on where you aim).

Or that could be an important balancing factor, and turning off the cockpit entirely would negate that...

/sigh

I'm gonna die when people are playing this and I'm at a university that blocks all ports.  Delay release until next summer? 0:)

All of the screenshots were really cool this week.

That would be SO awsome for the internal screens to work!

Looks great devs! You guys are doing a great job, cant wait to get my hands on and enjoy all your hard work. Thank you all!
