MWLL status update

Welcome to... no, not this time. It's sunday and most of you will have expected to see Weekly Update XXVII at this place.
This week, however, we do not have an update for you and in fact, Weekly Update XXVI marked the end of the weekly updates, as we're moving to monthly updates again. As most of the work on the project at this time is done in areas that can not be shown off, in particular optimisation and bugfixing, there simply is not enough eye-candy content to present to you every week.

So, from now on, we will be presenting to you a monthly update featuring all our work and progress. There is not yet a set date and time for this, but be sure we will let you know.

Thanks for your understanding and ongoing support.
As a last good bye to the weekly updates, here are 3 final playtest impressions...

Right ... so I say goodbye to MW:LL.
I guess 1st January 2010 I'll call it MechWarrior Forever ;D.

I will miss the weekly eye-candy and the highly visible status of the mod.  However, it sounds like you guys are almost done adding content (at least as far as the beta is concerned) and are about ready to create a open beta build to start bug testing.

My only request would be that if you start getting some really smooth running gameplay, that you release at least a few short video clips of parts that are running smoothly.  (This is only something I'm hoping for and I do remember AoP talking about how much work videos take to make.  I'm just wanting to see some of the more "working" and less eye-candy parts like how things function [i.e. turrets, loading mechs/vehicles/aerospace, active HUD, etc])

All in all, Good work Guys and thank you for all of the info and consideration of us fans.

Maybe a good video candidate would be a clip of a 'Mech walking and firing off one of each type of weapon so we can see the animations in action.  Of course I would not want them to release anything they are not happy with, so I would want them to take as much time as they need, but I would like to see what the new particle effects for weapons like the Gauss Rifle and PPC look like in motion whenever the Devs are happy with them.

Wow, those inferno shots just look sooo gorgeous, just amazing.

Does this mean that the art side of development is more or less over?

Does this mean that you are on the 'home straight' and it's just finishing and polishing left to do?

I'm expecting an 'its done when its done reply'  ;D.

Hmm, those pictures only show the firing of 1 weapon at time, but is it possible to fire every single weapon on your mech at same time? Damn that would make even my balls drop, that would be awesome sight to lose sight of your own mech in all those fires.  :P :o

Sad to see the weekly updates go, but maybe this is a sign that the beta is on it's way this year. One can only hope.
