You can backup all or individual Steam games to DVD, or HD. It creates a single .exe to reinstall all or individual backups. I keep a backup of all my games so I never have to re-download them. We can also use them to setup a bunch of machines for a lan party. Steam has stated as previously posted that they would issue a run without connection patch if it were ever necessary...

Steam is the gratest distribution / buddy system to date. It keeps all your games updated for you, allows you to chat and organize games with your friends. I cannot see a single drawback to it. And I am old, if anyone should be an old crotchety tin-foil hat wearing, black helicopter seeing, NWO fearing chicken-little, it should be me....  but I love it....

One of my friends says that sometimes games bought off Steam can be a little weird when it comes to modding them. Have any of you guys playing the game (Devs, apprentices ect) bought Crysis off steam and have MWLL working fine?

It's true that some games are like this but it's more or less a problem with the developer not having too-obvious support for modding in the first place and 99% of the problems are because they forget this and still have default mod directories in config files listed under "program files" instead of under the steam directory.  Easy workarounds.

Crysis isn't like this, as a matter of fact there's someone on the team AFAIK that uses the steam version of the game just fine with MWLL

If someone still has dial up then digital distribution isn't an option, so they wouldn't need to worry about it.
You only would get digital distribution if you have a fast 24/7 Internet connection, which then most of your concerns about steam are no longer valid. Valve isn't going away anytime soon.

I like having a box. That is why I bought Crysis Maximum from Newegg for 19.99 with free shipping a little over a month ago.

I was at the crysis launch party and got it as a door prize ( :) ). But I picked up warhead from this, I thought that was a pretty good deal.

For me when i connect without internet it pops up a window that says "Go into offline mode?" as an option. other wise you can find it in the options i think. Or the little arrow drop down on your friends list.
All of my posts are of my personal opinions unless obviously otherwise.

My only problem with steam is it's frequently erratic updates lol :D And the random NOT starting up steam or my games.

Other than that it's a charm :)

Just remember the steam version does NOT come with the 64 bit bin file, you will have to attain it separately.

You *SERIOUSLY* had to bump this thread? On a Friday of all days? I read this thread and thought 'Great now I can get some people to get Crysis for this!' only to find out that it's over 2 months old.

Lock this threadomancy.
