Anything new?
« on: November 13, 2009, 04:59:09 AM »
So this will likely irritate the Dev's, sorry for that!

Anyway, so have we any "NEW" news on MWLL other than possible release before Christmas? Maybe something really cool that they haven't told everyone? Like maybe a new twist on things, or maybe we have to pilot the drop ships successfully or we die before the map starts? How about the clans have called up some IIc Garrison Mechs to guard some installations on planets that are close to IS territory? What about the ability to salvage mechs from the field during or after the battle?

I have the advantage of just discovering this project. Judging from the number of posts you have I guess you have been following it for a while. I am happy that I just saw this now as the wait and anticipation for something like this would have driven me insane.

Mods should embrace the attitude. It just means people love what is going on...
I was just discussing the other day how much of a shame it is that no one has carried on the franchise.

erh you do know trolls usually stay hidden for a looong time before they go near the fire, lots of people have lingered around without posting at all :o

btw Tinker & Co. has a litle treat for us ones the legal busines is passed as does MekTek with a free release of MW4M+MekPaks, when they deem it finished *cough* one rumour stated it to be November 10!!!
We have a new TRO coming soon, see battletechreader, I hope, with seriously enhanced illustrations by TheDarkBanditKing etc. :-X

They'll announce it when a release is near, it's more or less a waste of time torturing the Dev's with the same old questions *shrugs*

If the devs really wanted to do something awesome, they wouldn't tell us and just release it one day nonchalantly.

I have the advantage of just discovering this project. Judging from the number of posts you have I guess you have been following it for a while. I am happy that I just saw this now as the wait and anticipation for something like this would have driven me insane.

I thought that four months ago.

IMHO, do not expect very much productivity from the MWLL team now. With the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, chances are the team may be taking a break from the MWLL Mod creation to play CoD MW2. They take breaks like this occasionally to get them away from the grind of the MWLL Mod creation process.

We all need a break from the daily work schedule.

Intel Core i7 @ 3.50GHz, AMD/ATI HD6990 LCS, Catalyst Control Center V11.10, 6GB Tri-Channel Dram, 640GB HD, 128GB SSD, DirectX 11,  Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), Corsair 1200 Watt Power Supply, Liquid Cooled GPU and CPU.

Before this spreads out... no, this is not at all the case. I don't believe anyone but me even bought it and personally, I think it's an obscenity and an insult to all fans of the original CoD franchise. SP is great while way too short and multiplayer is lagfest and spam of bullshit perks and gimmicks. For me, the franchise dies with this game.

AoP,

I am boycotting the game because of the lack of modding and no dedicated servers.

No thanks on this one.

AoP,

Well, I had it pre-ordered and was too busy to cancel it again when I became aware of the various issues (Steam required, no dedicated servers). I don't regret buying it, simply because SP is one of the most intense experiences I've ever had in a videogame - just imagine Hans Zimmer doing a video game soundtrack! yes, this is as awesome as it sounds! - but I wouldn't again and knowing of all the issues, I wouldn't recommend buying the game either.

Activision tried to sell the PC version at console game prices - about 150% of a normal PC game - over here. Add that to the various shortcomings and limitations of the game itself, and I can firmly say that Activision successfully managed to piss me off as a customer who won't return until there's an incredibly good game waiting.

That's pretty f***ed up.  How dare they try to take advantage of the PC users like this.  The console's prices are higher because they're Blu-ray, or HDDVD.  Charging us extra for a regular DVD/CD-ROM is like, borderline criminal.

HDDVD doesn't exsist anymore

Console prices are higher because it's Microsoft's/Sony's $10 "tax" they put on their console games so they can make a profit.  MS/Sony actually loose money per console sold, so the way they make the majority of money is by making it so the games sell for $60 versus $50.  The extra $10 cost goes directly to sony or microsoft, depending on what the console the game was bought for.

In the case of activision of MW2 here, they are making it cost $60 for PC users simply out of greed because they can and they figure it will sell, which'll earn them an extra $10 per copy sold directly into the CEO's pockets.
