In the case of activision of MW2 here, they are making it cost $60 for PC users simply out of greed because they can and they figure it will sell, which'll earn them an extra $10 per copy sold directly into the CEO's pockets.

The funny part is... it horribly failed over here. Amazon as well as the three largest consumer electronics chains refused to play Activision's game and had their regular introductory offers or at least offered the game at the usual PC retail price - and my pre-order from the UK wasn't any more expensive than that either.

MS/Sony actually loose money per console sold

I'd like to get the info on this, because my sources say they mark up consoles by like twofold. Not trying to hack on you, that would make sense too, just wondering.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

If you look at the difference in price between console games for XBox 360 and PS3 in comparison to the previous systems you see a $10 increase in the cost. From what I was told this increase in cost essentially goes directly to the console maker because they are selling the consoles for less then they make them for or want to make from them (could be either one because I don't have pure numbers here). In particular, this is the case from the PS3 side, where they sold systems for less then what they were worth, knowing that they would get $10 from every game sold for the console, more then making up the difference over the 10 year expected lifespan of the PS3.

Its already been said that there is gonna be a monthly update sometime this month.

As for MW2. I have it, loved the SP, and love the MP. Just recently beat SP so I haven't played much co-op since I didn't want any spoilers. I do hope there is dedi servers at some point, but matchmaking is working out pretty good. It's rare to see everyone lagging, and the only problem is the lobby system. It's a bit buggy sometimes. But overall the customization for classes, challenges and everything else makes the game hella fun. Also, Favela is FABULOUS. XD

i would not in two life times have bought this stupid mw2 game- i can't get steam to open in offline mode and my routers all messed up so i can't even play singleplayer cuz they failed..... and the horrible part is that i know they failed with this game on purpose because they don't want people buying the pc version- i won't ever buy another cod game that comes out after this if they do this stupid steam-fail thing. the whole situation with mw2 is makes me want to commit an act of terror that makes all console inoperable

on another note just like cod 4 and 5 the single player campaign is awsome and mp is better than crysis so i guess i didn't completely fail.... still wasn't worth more than half the price i payed for it though....

MW2 is by no means a *bad* game but I agree, this isn't a "Call of Duty" game. To be fair to Infinity Ward and Acti though, they DID try to switch the name to create a new IP  by just going with "Modern Warfare 2" but found that the branding had been so strong that they had to slap CoD back on the box (kinda like Tom Clancy/Rainbow Six games).

The problem is, CoD was always a sort of a tribute to the armed forces while MW series is more of an action movie style game. Again, its a lot of fun and I like the MP as well (hate the matchmaking though) but lets get back to reality a little with the next one.

No.  Just a hobby.   ;D

But really, the long wait will be worth it.  Trust me.  For a mod group, the things they have been able to do is amazing.  Were just trying to make sure it all works.

I feel sorry for the Black Messa devs, they've had to put up with 100 times the 'can i haz mod rite naow' than the MWLL devs, they've been sulking for the best part of a year. My 2 cents sinse this thread is already offtopic from OP.

The point im trying to make is the dev's can sit here all day and tell you about all the cool shit we are trying to do, or we can just do it.  There will be news and updates, its just work is progressing at a pace that showing you screenshots of a Madcat you have already seen really does not do things justice.

I think my work is done here.
