anticipation hurts... oh well, hopefully there will be a big update there tommorrow to make it all better  ;D

Unfortunately not.
Reason:

crunch time is happening.

and

soo super close to relese in some form that they are holding off untill its ready.

Oddly enough that makes me feel better...hey if this is a christmas present I don't mind...Even if its january I don't care...its soooo worth it, and lets be honest what other mech game do we have right now aside from the aging MW4 Mercs?  So keep it up devs ;D

Even with this news, I still would like an update on the main page once in a while. even if there is no screenshot. Something like "We still think we can maybe hit 2009" or "things are going well!"

Every effort is being made to get this out ASAP, within the scope of acceptable and intended function and design.  Rest assured the the team is aware of how much time development of this mod has taken and how overdue it is, as well as the expectations of the community.  Publicly defining deadlines or otherwise containerizing development has already proven unrealistic and is not something any of us want to repeat.  Keep in mind that this mod depends on the availability (and willingness) of volunteer talent and that is simply something that cannot be quantified long-term (or even short-term for that matter).  We have our private deadlines and these guys are working their asses off to try and make them.  Please try to be content with that at this time and have just a little more patience.

Eldragon, you've been around long enough to know that there is no such thing as a brief statement followed by contented fans.  Everything that is released sparks debate, criticism, and ultimately further delay.  Right now the team just needs to put its blinders on and focus on the goal.

I agree completely. And I'm not complaining about a lack of content updates, or that the mod isnt out yet (I can wait, there are other games to play) and you certainly don't need to keep the fans happy (We will be happy enough when release time comes). It just seems to me you could be putting some of the same information that is posted by Developers in the forums onto the main page.

I fully understand where Eldragon is coming from. He is not expecting miracles or anything wild. A simple post that takes 5 minutes from the individual that has a sole purpose of public relations is not asking much at all. Naturally this is all within the discretion of the dev team, but in the time it has taken the multiple devs to post their near flaming responses to people asking for an update, a simple update could have been released by a single person that is not part of the actual "working hard to get it done" side of the production. This would have removed the need for the time spent by devs to flame. It is an amazing circle of life I suppose, but devs taking time to reprimand members of the community for asking about any news makes me laugh at the hypocrisy of it all.

Do the devs have people who do just PR?

And yea I get the last part but I guess that is their fun for the day, to mess with us?  I mean we can't honestly expect them to be devs all day can we?

AoP is the assigned PR guy. I think there were a couple others that may have disappeared which makes it so AoP handles the forums virtually alone, but no matter how busy I get I know I can always find 5 minutes of each day, and other then when I was fighting in Iraq with no access to the internet, there has never been a point in time where I couldn't find 5 minutes in over a month. I am not saying this is a real issue, as there may be reasons there hasn't been even a "mini update", but I personally would have handled the situation differently to at least appease some of the people that can't live without an update.

AoP is the one in that department!

btw stating "just PR" is seriously a lack of knowledge of what's behind such an abbreviation ;)

I do know that AoP has been extraordinarily busy with real-life responsibilities the past few months, which speaks back to some of the above statements about Dev time coming at the discretion of other time consumers in our lives.

At current, AoP is the only Dev I know that holds the keys to the front-page of the site and the other associated media elements.  For a time I was trying to help with content, (re: DEV's Favourite Screenshots) but there is a reviews and approvals process that has to happen for anything that is released.

For the moment, please take our assurances that the Dev Team is alive and well, and pounding away at the mod to put on polish and stability as best we can.  I spent 5+ hours yesterday re-engineering part of the FMOD project for weapons sounds, what did YOU do with your Sunday!  ;D
