ok thanks, now to get crysis...
People are stupid if they think they can have their own way.

  • Prepare to be confused
hi, im new here and I figured out (by lurking) that Crysis will kill my computers, both of them actually, and so this is not for me. I have a friend here who speaks mainly russian and has windows 7 64 bit. Using skype I walked him through the installation (he already has a russian version of crysis maximum edition) and it says it cant boot the main game. Here's what we've done:
  • He had russian version Crysis and Crysis Warhead/wars installed on his computer, directly from disk. I don't think its cracked.
  • We downloaded MWLL 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 from the downloads site. Then installed in order.
  • The installation was to his custom crysis directory (he had changed it, while originally installing, to his games directory)
  • We forgot to add actionmaps in 3.0, but it seemed to automatically add it (3.1 said it was already installed)
  • Running the launcher => waits about a minute, then says that it cant launch the main game (Crysis)
   [li]Tried making a shortcut to crysis.exe and adding [/li][/list]
Code: [Select]
-mod mwll
to the end => does nothing[/li]
Any help? He's running Crysis great, I think its DX10, but I may be wrong. I might talk to him over Skype in an hour.

Thanks in advance!

try to load the game with 32 bit compatibility mode..and run with the admin accout, check your antivirus (never  run your computer with out a antivirus.)also fire wall might be blocking the game. also run the game in dx9 mode just to see if the multiplayer works. disclamer: use this advice at your risk im not going to be resposible for bricking a computer. I am not a expert :)

You never mentioned if you patched Crysis. You need to if you haven't, before you install MWLL as well.

There is no other patches for Crysis vanilla. There is only the Crysis Patch 1.2, and the Crysis Hotfix 1.21.

Update dx9 to the latest version, and update your sound and graphic drivers. Then your good to go :D

    Question...

I have updated Crysis (Maximum Edition) with the 1.2 and 1.21 hotfix.

I DLed the 3.0 installer from the downloads site to start with and ran it. once it was installed I was going to do the 2 other updates.

It keeps trying to point to the 32 bin exe (which IS there) but says it is not. So I can't install 3.0basic.

I use the 64 bin exe anyway to play and thought briefly about copying it and sticking it in the 32bin folder, but that would erase the 32bin exe (since it was a diff size file anyway, I thought I better not touch it).

So what the heck is going on? Why is it ignoring the existing exe and not detecting it?

Did I do something wrong? Which I find quite hard since it is an installer and I already did the required and successful 1.2 1.21hotfix updates...

I'm sorry but I am a little confused by this. What is the specific error that you are getting from the installer ? You said that you succesfully installed 0.3.0, then that the updates wouldnt install, but then you're also having problem with the 0.3.0 install ?
Is it the patch installer that's failing to find the exe file that is already present ? (in this case maybe uninstalling/reinstalling could help although I know it's painful to uninstall and repatch everything again, some file location data may be corrupted or something)

Which kind of installation of Crysis Maximum are you using, is it a retail box w/disk or a digital download through Steam or something ? Did you let the installer put everything into it's default locations or have you got them in different locations than the default ?(If this is the case, maybe try re-installing with everything in default locations, the location should really not make a difference though)

Does Crysis run on it's own, once you have it patched up to 1.2.1 ? Also, once you have installed MWLL 0.3.0, can you run it on it's own before you try to patch or does it crash on you ? You wont be able to join any games with that version by the way but you will be able to see if it will actually start up or not.

I'm sorry to ask so many question of you, just trying to get as much info as possible to help :)

It installed now to the default:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\

I will continue with the patch process and if I have anymore trouble I will repost.

It was a misunderstanding, I thought the instructions said to make:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\mods

That was the problem, me adding "mods" to the directory.

Cause it was repeated three times in the instructions and I read it too fast.
So I thought it had to be the correct way to install it (to a mod directory)

'Might be listed'... as opposed to... 'should be listed'.

An easy enough mistake to make, sorry for the bother.
