Step 1 goto wiki
Step 2 click mechs
Step 3 Click mech name, not picture
Step 4 scroll down
Step 5 read the screen.

Don't blow your load too early...

If you're in a 1v1 engagement with someone who likes to twist away to spread damage, be patient.

Hold fire till they turn towards you, while they're twisted away they can't shoot you, at some point they'll try their luck, hoping you've shot your weapons off. Surprise 'em with a full alpha :D

or fire off half an alpha to make them think they are safe (works best with beatstick if you only fire the LBX10s and then hit them with the 20s when they turn :3)

Some BA tips:

1.As a BA in maps such as swamp with cover in relatively shallow water with seaweed in it, fly up out of the water, shoot, and fall back in to be more effective at fighting larger enemies. I nearly soloed an un-damaged Warhammer doing this when I was really new to the game.

2. On a low gravity map such as extremity, try to fly a little way above your enemy's head and bombard them with grenades and rockets, just make sure you have enough jet fuel to fly away so you don't go down too.

3. When on a low gravity map, make use of turning direction mid air to keep changing directions to confuse your enemy and get more damage dealt before you die.

4. When playing as a BA and you have a base/group of allies about to be attacked, you can confuse your enemies by crouching on top of a steep hill with a PPC to use the knockback to fall off and recharge before you fly up again. This is a great way to deal decent damage and get points while keeping yourself alive for as long as you can.

5. If you know you're going to die to an enemy, make suicide run using PPCs, grenades, rockets, and heavy lasers to deal as much damage as you can to them before you die. (If you don't die the first run, you may be able to make several more and destroy even heavy mechs with slow rate of fire weapons.

6. When I'm piloting a vehicle, I like to jump out and fly up right as I get hit by an explosive weapon when I'm about to die. Sometimes enemies will mistake you for a flying piece of debris, allowing you to get in a few last shots.

7. If you are extremely careful, you may be able to destroy a lone assault mech by getting on it's shoulders and shooting it with something like a heavy laser. Be careful, though, I've been blown up by my allies doing this. And if you somehow crit the mech when you run out of jetpack power, you're pretty much toast.

Shoot the bad guys

No, seriously, SHOOT THE BAD GUYS.

If you aren't maneuvering for a shot, you're not playing the game.
Thanks for the view.

If you aren't maneuvering for a shot, you're not playing the game.

This, so much this.

Even if you're pinned and can't crest the hill between you nd the enemy, at least try to maneuver to a position from where you can do something.
Don't just stand there staring at said hill for 10 minutes without doing anything, the only thing that archieves is boring everyone to death.
(I'm still seeing that way too often)
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

In Lyran Commonwealth, Atlas scouts you.

Shoot the bad guys

unfortunately, as others have said, this is a key thing some seem to forget. While you sit there not moving or trying to shoot people, other people are moving and trying to shoot you. the key is to move and try to shoot more than them.

Sorry for any repeats, sure ill forget some but....

When playing TC, pre selecting the base you plan to take as a spawn point, will give you a handy on screen location indicator. Very helpful for learning routes on new maps...

Should you take the fancy to start throwing arrows around, consider the angle they leave a huit's hull, face that hull away from a narced enemy, and you have some splendid elevation afforded to your arrows  ;) (it used to be 'quite splendid' now it remains merely 'splendid')
In fact all missiles can be 'directed' around certain objects, aim torso's away from narced targets, but consider that in the arc the range is consumed, and some missiles can arc better/harder than others (not including MRM's that seem to need to face the narced enemy directly to gain lock)...

You can remove narcs from your own hull if you have a PPC mounted by blasting a round into a bit of scenery you happen to be near, or the ground in smaller mechs... The splash damage works a treat, but you need to be close, and it hurts a bit....

What else... oh yeah...

If you face a single mech enemy, and that enemy has limited torso twist, pay close attention to the direction of...... No i cant do it.... ;)

Oh yeah...

Coolant can be flushed in a powered down mech/hover, it charges quickly and a full tank costs 5k[or thereabouts]... on hot maps make sure you give a good blast when you are rtb'd(sitting on the pad), you will be better prepared for a masc dash or to fight that inc baddie :)

A mech/hover will function for a second after being powered down, when rtb['ing] to a main hangar make the turn in the bay before shutting down, with practice you can be lined up ready to head out as soon as you are powered up... you can also shut down early on the approach to a rep pad, but be aware you MUST make it to the pad, for obvious reasons :D

For empty server boredom/giggles: Vtols can drive on the ground quite well (so long as you have changed the default controls) land on a road, hold shift and then press 5 on the keypad then try and keep to the road, as you get more proficient you can progress up the keypad.. :D
