Indeed, I never did manage to get my Logitech 3d working just the way I want it to, though I believe this to be a failing on my part. I think Toth gave me a good suggestion one morning, but I was tired and not being a good tester with a notepad handy, thus I still fail@joystick - there seems to be another setting corresponding to the rate of the Z axis that I was missing.
Decoy, try opening up the actionmaps.xml file, then using the joystick calibrator utility that should be in the same directory (did this ship with the beta? I haven't been home from work yet to check), move your joystick around to see what axis and buttons are mapped as what. Then just find the corresponding entries in the actionmaps file and tweak to your liking.
That's the theory, anyway. Your mileage may vary.
