Hitch a Ride
« on: August 23, 2007, 08:02:46 PM »
In the BT novels I have read there has never been a situation where ground based infantry have been able to "hitch a ride" on a Battle Mech. Is this possible? Is there BT historical precedence for this?

Intel Core i7 @ 3.50GHz, AMD/ATI HD6990 LCS, Catalyst Control Center V12.3, 6GB Tri-Channel Dram, 640GB HD, 128GB SSD, DirectX 11,  Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), Corsair 1200 Watt Power Supply, Liquid Cooled GPU and CPU.

Yes and we want to implement the elementals being able to grab onto the mechs to hitch a rid on friendlies and to "stick" to enemy's.

As far as BT goes i'm fairly certain there were rules surrounding this.

Storm of Fate detailed how Elementals under Lincoln Osis hitched rides on BattleMechs into battle against the Kathil Uhlans. so yeah, there is a precedence. plus, it would be damn cool game concept for infantry.

"whoa that dude just ducked back behind the Thor's missile launcher!"

"damn! can't see him... where did he..?"

"bang! you're dead!"

Tanks of today and yesterday are/where not designed to carry soldiers on the outside either   ;D

"Hay mac, can you spare a lift"

"sure thing, just watch where you sit"

But maybe tanks of tommorow ;)

I think the idea is not so much all infantry as it would be mostly the battlesuits...but then again i think further about that and the battlesuits are pretty quick on their own so them hitching a ride would mostly just be akin to taking cover. Its sortof an extra feature we want in but honestly we won't spend the majority of our time working on it.

err... forgot to mention that Lincoln Osis' troops were Elementals. so yeah, probably it makes sense for battlesuits to hitch rides.

"dude, gimme a hand. pants are stuck in the treads again. think my ass was scraped off."

"damn... medic!!!"
