you need to extract the mod to your crysis folder, on my disc based crysis wars install on win 7 64x the default folder is

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis

When extract this should create a "Mods" folder in the crysis folder, the hot fix goes in the exact same spot because it over rides some mod files

Alright Ladies,

We know that there's been a few people that are having some crashes with the mod, so this is where we'll give you the low down on information to install and hopefully stop those crashes all together.

**** Installation ****

To install, first make sure that your "vanilla" Crysis is patched to 1.20, then patched with the hotfix to 1.21.

Then,

Unrar the File named "MWLL-OpenBeta1.rar" with either 7Zip (www.7zip.com) or Winrar (http://www.rarlab.com/)

To do this, open the file in one of the programs mentioned above, then click "Extract to"

Make sure to extract to “C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis”

Or If your using Steam, extract to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\crysis"

Once You've extracted, navigate to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Mods\mwll\

In this folder you will find the MWLL Launcher.exe, right click this and click "send to > desktop (Create Shortcut)"

Alternatively you can add a " –mod mwll" in the target line of a shortcut to the crysis executables.

The target line will look like this “"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64(or Bin32)\Crysis.exe" -mod mwll”

Next you need to install your actionmaps.xml to your profile in Crysis

To do this copy the file “example_actionmaps_for_joystick.xml” from your "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Mods\mwll\" folder

Then paste the file into your "My Documents\My Games\Crysis\Profiles\Default(and YOURPROFILE if you've made one)

Then rename your original actionmaps.xml to something different if you plan to play crysis again in the future, and rename "example_actionmaps_for_joystick.xml" to "actionmaps.xml"

**** Beta Tips ****

-Giving yourself a name in game-

When you first play online you'll notice your name is Nomad. To change this you need to go to the main menu, go to profiles, then hit New Profile, the name you give your profile is the name you use in Multiplayer. ( Remember that when you do this, you have to reinstall the action maps for your new profile like in the example above)

-Crashes-

I myself have had quite a few crashes and found that by following the instructions below, you can reduce some of those crashes.

If you experiencing crashes try the following:

Navigate to your "My Documents\My Games\Crysis" folder, and delete your shaders folder, by doing this, the cry engine will re-download the shaders for the mod. I find this helped to stop most of my crashes in game.

If your experiencing crashes before even getting in game try deleting your "My Documents\My Games\Crysis" folder all together. Don't worry this will be replaced upon the first start up of Crysis.

And remember to replace your Actionmaps.xml after doing this as to not mess up your in game controls.

Also if your willing, you may want to uninstall your other add-ons for crysis as this may interfere with mod.

-Crashing In The Menu System-

Try to disable your Anti Virus, as it seems that any file change in the Crysis Directory is triggering your Anti Virus.

AVG - Real Time protection, set to off or shutdown helps as well - Thanks lessergod

OR do the following with AVG to add a path:

"Tools > Advanced Settings > Resident Shield > Directory Excludes > Add Path" -Thanks Scarfox

If you have questions or you want something added to this thread, let me know so I can update the thread.

I been having a lot of issues installing. I got crysis patched and i replace my actionmaps file, but when i go to start up my game either from the shortcut its the crysis game, and if i start with the MWLL exe file it reads "unable to find crysis.exe in ur games bin32(bin64)folder. Unable to launch" I been looking forward to this for a very long time. any help or suggestions?

and

Im in the same position as Hawawaa and Derds, :/

Sorry gentlemen, I didnt mean to confuse you with the installation when I put the  (bin32) in the line it was not suppose to be included. I have updated the installation process for steam to be a little more specific. Take a look, hopefully it will help.

Inous- Ya I know I have the 32 bit version. But when I use the MWLL launch it still just states "Unable to find Crysis.exe in your game's Bin32folder. unable to launch." And if I make a short cut to Crysis with the -mod mwll, when it loads in the mod directory nothings there...

I have re-downloaded the mod... So ya... I don't know whats goin on. I have done everything to the letter...

Extract mwll to crysis folder in in steam\steamapps\common\crysis. Placed the hotfix in the crysis folder too. Placed the actionmaps.xml in Documents\my games\crysis\profiles\hawawaa. Ya... what am I doing wrong...?

Is is ok to use FREE RAR EXTRACT FROG??

Iwas having problems with Free RAR Extract Frog. The files kept ending up missing parts or corrupted.Dowloaded WinRAR trial, ran as administrator(I'm running Vista64)to resolve user privilage issues, and it decompressed the 0.1.0 archive, no problem

Vanilla, means plain old crysis, with no patches installed. Basically Retail version

So is this installation guide obsolete with the new 3.0 installer? I am trying to install this mod and I keep getting a error from the open beta full 3.0. From what I understand it does all intallation for you?
