No Mk.II pleaaase!!!
« on: December 28, 2009, 05:20:21 AM »
The one thing that urked me the most about MW4 was the damn Mad Cat Mk.II and it's ability to carry dual Heavy Gauss while at the same time was equipped with jump jets. It was retarded and turned every league match into two teams with all Mk.II's standing behind cover, popping out and hoping for a shot. It took all of the tacticality out of the game and turned into whack-a-mole. I'm sure everyone who played in the MW4VL knows this already but I just want to reiterate for peace of mind.

As far as beta goes, after a good bit of major bug fixes I can see this mod restarting some of the old leagues again.

I've gotta second this request. Unless it has an extremely high price, I can't see it being a balanced addition to the game.

have you fellas played the beta ?? ..if you have,,youd have noticed how JJ work..and how..Poptarting with MKIIs wont work very well ....
also ...get a BA to TAG them ..and every LRM within range will rain down on them.
MKII's arnt any differnt from other mechs ..they still obey the game rules.
This Is NOT MW4 ....this is MWLL..and since ive been playing BT / MW products since 1989 ..im happy to say..this MOD is shaping up nicely.
Next youal be QQIng over 7xERLL's Novacats .....sheesh ..its part of the MW IP ..and simple..dont like it...run your own server ...as i for one is waiting happerly for my Warhammer IIC-4.

i think this game will have much more balance fixes than like MW4, as much as i loved that game it didn't really get patched for balance. ever. that i remember
they should put every mech in the universe in this game
and fine tune them all to be balanced as the beta goes along

that would be the perfect scenario

Even in Mech 4, MKIIs turned like an ocean liner and had very little torso twist, one trick pony really.

Not as big a problem as previous Mech games. MKII are sitting ducks for BA and Aeros (nice big target). Plus it takes a while to earn one in everything except Test of Strength so they cannot be bought by everyone right off the bat and ruin the game. By the time people start getting them there are plenty of mechs and vehicles that can give them a really bad time. Try an Arrow equipped Catapult. Nasty at long range!

This is not a problem as only the Hollander and Fafnir can hold Heavy Gauss, and only the Hollander is implemented right now. This is not MW4, so there's no need to compare shitty tactics.

jumpsniping is all but extinct in MWLL, only time ive seen it in any from at all was me popping up and tagging a tank with a large laser while approaching a battle and i must say that was a lucky shot.

Uhh, oh my, shitty tactics? It was one of the best things in MW4. Jumpjets were awesome, the only thing missing was directional JJ.
The jumpjets in this mod is just "shitty"(please don't get mad, you used it for MW4 which is my favorite game of all time) as it is. You press it and 80% of your jumpjet load goes off and you skyrocket with your mech. It's unreal and embarrassing.
I see now where the shaky aim, small bowl-like maps came from. You guys want everyone just rush in straight and fight with "honor", so you make it impossible to fight efficiently with Jumpjets.
Guess what the players, who used the "shitty" tactics in MW4 and owned you, will still own you in a close-up deathmatch, simply because they are better. Nothing will change cause you give them usefull Jumpjets, or take them away - actually it's just taking away the fun.

As it is right know the skyrocketing jumps are unbalancing the game.

jumpsniping was shit, jumpjets were never meant for fighting they were made for moving from point A to point B which is what they do in MWLL.

I'm saying shitty tactics in regards to the poptarting faggotry that was MW4. I'm bias since I liked MW3 and MW4 had quite a few blatant flaws that turned into gameplay mechanics. It's not your shitty tactics per-se, it's the tactics from MW4 that were shitty due to how the game itself was made. I'm not trying to be offensive, I'm just saying that MW4's gameplay lent itself to shitty tactics. Yes, good players get good at such tactics, but this is an entirely different game and should only be compared to MW4 in spirit, not tactics or gameplay.

The only complaint i have with jump jets at the moment is that you don't retain forward momentum during a jump, if you are jumping and you let off the jets you come to a standstill fairly quickly and drop like a rock instead of arcing properly lol

But on the issue of jump snipping: just because some players decided to abuse a game mechanic in previous games doesn't make it a part of battletech, if you can open any of the stories from all of the cannon and point out to me one case of poptarting i will give you an Ecookie.

Mostly jump jets were used to achieve a height advantage by jumping onto terrain and buildings, some pilots combined jumping with shooting while moving to keep their line of sight on the target clear, not to jump up snap a shot off and then hide again (mainly that tactic worked in MW4 because you couldn't just blast right thorough the building like they are supposed to be able to do again by the stories, not any of the games)

On the subject of the game being "honor based" and forcing everyone into a melee, i disagree, last night i was able to sit up on a ridge while another mech duked it out a ways away, i lent fire support with my guass in a hollander, together me and that other mech took out 6 mechs/vehicles without one of us ever going down, now if you dont call that tactics i guess you played MW4 for too long :D

Just be sure to hold down "W" to continue going forward when you engage the jumpjets.  Momentum is preserved, but there is also an element of air resistance.  If you are moving at full speed and engage jump jets and hold "W" you will move forward a respectable distance.

Uh... do servers have the option of restricting certain mechs?  If they do, this complaint is moot.
