Oh, CC = Close Combat? I must have spent too much time in WoW, for the life of me I couldn't figure out what a Crowd Control weapon in MW would be.

I think there will be an update asap the beta is over. I will spread the pdf as a doc file, so the thread-starter can adapt it. i think such a overview is very helpful for beginners like me.

Satchel charges in knee actuators.
Actually, they have those in BT lore, they are called A-Pods. Half-ton anti-personnel charges that fragment on exploding. One time use. B-Pods are A-Pods made to kill BA.

I think some of the things that are declared **NOT IN THE BETA** came in with Patch 0.2.0. Would be nice if you'd update the front page for people who don't know about it. Thanks

A-pods are Anti Personnel pods.  Aimed at discouraging infantry from inserting satchel charges into knee and ankle joints.

Ya. I was responding to what crowd control in BTech might be, though. As in, inserting said satchel charges into said knee joints.

Short QUestion...

Isn't the Tbolt System a tripmine deployment system like cluster bomb's?

We always played that way in Mechwarrior RPG/Battletech

Your thinking Thunder LRM's. Thunder LRM's dropped minefields on demand at range. Very useful if you wanted to direct your enemy's movement.  ;D

To qualify them as...

Beam Lasers
Pulse Lasers
Extended Range Beam
Extended Range Pulse
Bombast Laser
Chemical Laser
X-Pulse Lasers
Heavy Beam Lasers
etc...

They are different in the way they behave, so it's useful to be able to identify them as such... by name.

Ok, I see... But I think all BTU fans will be glad to see thier original names

Bombast Laser
Chemical Laser
I guess it won't ever be in MWLL...  ::)

But what about mechs and their variants? You will keep their names as they are now or it will be more 'realistic' like Osiris OSR-3D and that Prime-A-B-C pattern will be applied for omni-assets only?

Using the Prime, A, B, C etc. naming convention is much easier for new players that don't have an intimate familiarity with BT and make for much easier battlefield recognition/callout:

Atlas B in Delta 4.
vs.
Atlas AS7-K2 in Delta 4.

The second one just doesn't roll off the tongue.

Beyond this, with the introduction of the MechLab games that have custom variants enabled the naming convention for variants will be non-applicable anyway.

What is better? To make gameplay a little easier for newbies (even if they can just visit Sarna) or to follow the rules of the universe on which based the whole game?

Also I thought that 'AS7', 'BSW' or 'OSR' sounds like 'Atlas', 'Bushwacker' and 'Osiris'. So it will be:
'Atlas B in Delta 4'  vs.  'Atlas K2 in Delta 4'.

Anyway it will sound like that:   ;D
Quote
- Got a contact! Atlas!..  O_o'
- Where???  ???
- [fight sounds] Sh*t! He's got that heavy gauss!  D:
- Where he is??!!  >:(
- Dammit, he legged me! Argh, I'm ejecting!..   :-\

Next, every customized variant should identified as 'Customized' or 'Unknown'. I think it will be the best decision.

But yes, this pattern allow you to create any different variants for balancing purposes...  ;)
And nobody will says: "Hey it's not a BSW-X1! It's absolutely not!"  ::)

Right now the only place you see the variant names is in the Buy Menu.  When you target an Atlas it does not show you the variant ID.

Further, we don't mirror CBT variants in MWLL (for a number of reasons), so assuming we wanted to adopt that naming convention, it would not necessarily apply anyway and we would have people complaning that "your Atlas AS7-K2 model has a Heavy Gauss instead of just a regular Gauss!!!"

Some of this is due to our pod-weapon-slot concept, which is required for the way our 'Mechs get built both visually and in the engine.

For now, Prime, A-F are sufficient.
