New to Site but not battletech
« on: September 01, 2007, 05:25:00 AM »
Hello everyone.  I recently found out about this mod and I just wanted to say that this looks like the best thing to ever happen to battletech fans on the PC.  I am new to this site but I have been an avid mechwarrior player since MW2 and played MW4/MW4 mercs religiously for years.....but the graphics and engine are so old that I havent played much in a while.  I am still waiting for mektek to release the next patch/mp4.
I just wanted to say how very cool your mod looks and I cant wait to play it,  Especially ever since I saw crysis and the cryengine2 capabilities I was amazed, and now that it will have a battletech aspect with combined arms all I can say is wow and thank you.
DON'T RUN, YOU'LL JUST DIE TIRED!!!

Welcome FireHawk_1066. All the Devs here appreciate the vote of confidence that new fans give us. It really motivates us to strive harder to make a bigger and better mod for the community. We are very receptive to comments/critiques/ideas about any of our game elements and we'd love to hear what you think about them :).

From the start, our prime focus was to bring BattleTech into the Mixed Arms multiplayer environment. What most people don't realize is that there's more to BattleTech than just Battlemechs. We wanted to include all the Aero-space, Tanks, VTOLs and Infantry to fight along and also against Mechs. This seems like a daunting task and have had a few nay-sayers, but we're persistent with our passion for this mod.

With that in mind, we also want to make sure the scale of the Mechs is "REAL". They should look and feel like they're 10 meters tall and weigh as much as a Tank. I think one of the best scale renders is one of Jeff's (Death_Grin) most recent pictures of a human player model (in T-pose) standing next to a Catapult.

Again, the MWLL Devs really appreciate the praise we get from the community and our fans about the mod and are also excited to get our hands on the Crytek engine to use all of its tools to make the next step in the evolution of BattleTech.

Battlefield 2142

I did think of a question though after reading through the forums more throughly.  I've played BF2 and 2142.  The idea of capturing mechs or obtaining mechs on the battlefield was incorporated in 2142.  I understand that in MWLL a team must first capture a mech or vehicle facility in order to manufacture mechs.  I'm curious what other changes are in store for us and if you can further explain mechs role on the field of battle?  I also understand that in order to more accurately portray the Battletech universe this mod will reward players for playing infantry and mechs will be more of a specialized tool.  Will there be a mode for strictly mech vs. mech maybe in an arena setting?

Yes. Question 3.5 in our FAQ briefly answers this.

We plan to have a few additional nice features in this Arena Mode.
