Aero controls
« on: December 31, 2009, 11:15:13 AM »
Can anyone really fly them with a keyboard/mouse combo? I'm struggling to even get around the map, not to mention actually using it in combat. >.> Also, where can i reverse the Y axis in the xml?

I didnt have a problem flying the VTOL in crysis, but then I could reverse the Y axis of the mouse. Without the Y axis reversed, I managed to stay in the air 30 secs.  :-\

I fly both fine.

Sure, when I deliver my ordinance to the target my aircraft becomes part of said ordinance...

But as far as maneuvering and joyriding around goes it seems fine to me.

There is a thread in the beta discussion about the mouse controls for the aero vehicles. It looks like the mouse settings for flight are part of the default crysis controls and the changing actionmaps.xml has no effect on the inversion. One dev has posted that they are aware of the problem and hopefully there will be a fix in the future. I'm waiting for this as well since I am pretty damn useless in the aero until I can get the controls tweaked. Sure I can fly around a bit but I'm pretty much a non-threat.

Just keep flying you'll get used to it, i actually fly better with my m/k than my joystick now.

I've been flying for nearly a year now with keyboard and... trackball.

I find it works very well, but I do admit that it takes some getting used to.  Y-mouse inversion for controls is an issue, and we will be looking into it going forward.

I use mouse and keyboard... ask the oodles of aero's, and vtols i sent down in flames last night, they'd tell you, if you could find big enough bits anyways.  ;D

Yes, I am an asshole, I know this.
It is intentional, though usually not too horribly personal.

Okay. This may sound stupid, but I have to ask.
Is there a way to move forward faster than pointing the mouse down and holding forward?

I play with inverted mouse, and when I try to pilot a vehicle, the mouse gets re-inverted so that when flying it's like using 'non-inverted' controls.  This is very odd and makes flying pretty much impossible.  This is using KB+Mouse.

Looking forward to when that's fixed so I can fly!

I've had no problems flying with keyboard and mouse, just took a little getting used to at first as it always does when it comes to games vehicles in the air.

And I really don't understand how it's possible for there to be so much raging over the mouse being inverted.
