I have been hoping for the longest time someone would have the cohonnies to tackle this kind of thing for Mech.
I took a wild flying stab at it myself a few years ago with the idea of basing it around Unreal 2004. I was slowly teaching myself the in's and out's of modeling and texturing and some minor ventures into the land of inverse kinematics when I made the #1 serious mistake a person starting out on something of this magnitude by answering a fellow MW4 gamer when he asked "Why aren't you playing MW4 much anymore?".
Well I of course thought not much of it and answered "Oh I am working on getting a mod going for Mech in Unreal 2004". Little did I know just how quick a slip of the tongue can get out of hand. My friend told 2 friends and those 2 told 2 friends and....you can guess the rest. Before I knew it I was getting up to 100 emails a day asking me "When it will be ready?" and "How come you haven't finished it yet?" . Also there was my all time favorite ..." Your a REAL A***HOLE! get if finished now you jerk!"
It was not all bad emails and I actually had a few ppl hook me up with a bunch of mechs done in 3DS with their full blessings. But alas I quickly came to terms with there was No Way I could do any of it alone and after having a FULL out Hard Drive melt down, I threw in the towel.
