This means I'm well within any AA retaliation, and the AC5 Partisan and Arrow IV Huit in particular are my nemeses.

It's possible to dodge ArrowIVs in a Hawkmoth ;)
If you're facing the guy targeting you, tilt hard to one side, hold down W and Shift and the missiles should miss you.
At least I nearly killed an ArrowIV Catapult with the NARC/LRM Hawkmoth, just dodged, turned back, locked and fired a salvo, rinse and repeat. Then he fled and I was out of ammo -.-
I did get hit by one missile though, seems they orbit you once they've missed, must've moved into the path of one fired earlier while dodging the next two...

I don't think I've ever been killed by arrow and LRM NARC/TAG attacks in anything lighter than a bushwhacker..
If you're walking alone in a field with an Atlas or Mauler you deserve to die from an attack like that.
Slow mechs beware... they should melt into their teammates and be at the center of an attack, not run off by themselves.
I love when there is missile spam cause it means a row of defenseless tanks sitting obviously on a hill.
Get in a light mech (All laser Uller comes to mind) or a fast up close medium mech or even a harasser and close to range, you can chew them up easy. And about the BA's... here's a simple solution, ignore them and move on. Less than 3 Ba's should be no threat to a light mech. Don't misunderstand me, they can chew its back armor up, but they have to catch you first. A BA at normal gravity cannot catch a light mech or harasser after their initial jumpjets run out, you're simply too fast if you're retreating. Once the BA breaks off, go back and get another. Or kill the BA, very rarely I've had lag prevent me killing a BA with light mech weapons.

Completely agreed. To be honest I dont think Ive ever been killed solely from indirect fire in a lighter mech either, unless ive been standing too still in a stupid position.

I think the issue here is that being a missle boat is an easier 'tactic' for inexperienced players to rack up a decent score. Wait for the beep, point skyward, and fire. Im seeing more and more of it with each passing day....which is also why im finding it increasingly funner to sneak inside their minimum ranges and lay some LBX justice into them.

I can count on there being at least 2 or 3 LRM tanks in a starting round on your average map who think theyre in for some easy scoring. So what do I do? Take an all laser Uller, go passive to begin, flank the enemy front line and hit their defenseless fire support. Just keep moving and watch your radar.

Getting blasted on Sandblasted? Try flanking around the mountain on the West side of the 'meat grinder' rather than straight through it. If youre in a fast moving mech, your enemy will find a missle lock difficult due to the rolling dunes you keep disappearing into.

^ same reason i've been flying air to ground sullas recently.  sniper/lrm mechs on sandblasted especially all stand perfectly still on the same ridge, makes tbolt/fbomb runs absurdly easy and effective.

moving targets (ie shorter range mechs circle strafing) are much much harder to hit from above

I love dropping narcs on the enemy missle blobs as I know my teams missle blob will fire a volley in immediate response large enough to make god shed a tear. Generally when im flying with tbolts Ill say:

"standby for nark"

Ill select a partisan for death

Ill nark the bastard from 800ft away coming straight down on him, then launch 2 tbolts into his top armor. Generally dropping it to half or less.

Then the giant cloud of LRM swarms up from our side of the ridge and I laugh knowing that the enemy partizan/mech has about 5 seconds to live.

Seriously THIS is why I love this fapping game and will be playing it until my computer starts on fire and burns to ash.

Some of the current maps favor Indirect Fire, as there isn't realy a whole lot to hide behind from incoming missiles and alot of open ground making it easy to TAG or NARC someone from 1000m away.

Maybe some future maps will offer more varied terrain / protected approaches, like the Marshes, where TAGing a target long enough is harder to do and trying to NARC something means you have to get into their main weapon range.

Haven't launched the game yet but I see two problems with this thread.

The first is that in CBT ECM directly counters NARC. I can only assume since no one has mentioned it yet that ECM doesn't negate NARC like it does in the boardgame this mod draws inspiration from.

THe second is that a whole bunch of other counters or other ways to encourage team play seemingly haven't been yet. Is equipment like C3, stealth armor or iNarc going to be implemented?

look..bear with it ...its a beta ..and the devs im sure are reading post just as much as they are playing ATM.
as for the missle boats...yes they are hear to stay.
But in MW4 and MW4: mercs we had ways to fix them ,  Thorrs and Hellborns with LBX's and SSRM's  ,  they were fast , agile and stealthy ( passive ), they got in fast and hit just as hard ...soon Boats had to roll with heavy -assault mechs to save their asses.
So  give it time ..when we have more mechs and mechlab...missle boats and sky filled with aeros will be a memory ..as as good as NARC is atm ...when you try and hit a mech swerving at 70+kph ...they dont do so well.
*strokes his CLBX-20* soon my pretty..soon those Vulture-C's will taste you , MWHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAH
