It  didnt seem to work for me. I have a Xonar DX.

The sound 0 and 1 thing, is that ingame where you reboot it in console?

I'll crash occasionally and when I relaunch the sound is gone completely even the music during the launch movie and from the main menu.  Relaunching a second time solves the problem.

I get a fair bit of crackling in some games.

I seem to be hearing more about issues in Win7 than anything else.  Since this particular topic was opened due to a known issue with sounds I'm going to close it (since THAT issue was resolved) and redirect further discussions here:
