raise resolution or raise graphics settings?
« on: January 05, 2010, 04:12:12 PM »
I have a 22 inch monitor, native settings 1600x1050.. I have a radeon 4830. Full specs in the 385 usd thread. I am currently running it at 1270x964 or something close to that. WOuld I be better off raising the resolution to something closer to the native resolution and lowering specs to med> or keeping the resolution and settings on high.
i get about 40fps avg

if you can raise resolution to native - do it. Otherwise raise details.
Most significant difference is between native and other resolutions (sightly more than between small and one-step-higher ;) )

Yeah my understanding is that your top priority is to run all games at your monitor's native resolution, then adjust other settings as necessary.

running at 1600x1050 didnt work out too good. Seemed like more ctd, plus I ocd the gpu more which also made it vpu recover even when i throttled back the resolution a lil . I saw how it looked, n yeah, it was nice but it lowered FPS and i would run veng at 800x600 to ensure I had the smoothest gameplay and I enjoyed all those games thoroughly.
WIll run at 1024x760 with med to high settings and love it. WHen the mod is tweaked to perfection . New GPU. !!!!

I always run max res my screen can run when I can because at lower resolution you wont see the high details anyway
