The 8800 with 640 Megs was the medium of the series, but it was and still is a pretty strong card.

In my experience, my eVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640mb card was bent over and handled rather roughly by Crysis.  Adding MWLL to the mix only made the card whimper harder.  I tried to offset this with an SLI configuration of two 8800GTS cards, but Crysis only laughed and said "do the laundry".  Seriously, I could barely get 30fps on HIGH with two of those things teamed together.

After an upgrade to a GTX285 2GB the tables have turned and now Crysis is doing the housework.
Curious O.o
I could run Crysis farely well with that card and a single core CPU with 2.5GHz and 2 Gigs of DDR1 RAM somehow . .
Even on Medium to high i still got 30+ Frames most of the time. Only real slowdowns with huge explosions . .
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

This amuses me greatly, as I have the 8800 GT and can put everything bar shaders on high and have decent performance ^_^

... wish I could have the shaders, though - they make everything look so beautiful...

I found my old mwl sig.

I'm that guy that loved to launch his Shadow Cat into the air, then get shot up into peices, and whatch the wreckage fall from the sky on to your daishi's head. "Death From Above" my favorite from MW4. I also loved to aim my Ejecting Pod at you. SCat Forever!

The Day I command my own clan is the day when SCat's rain from the sky.

That's to be expected, though.:)
The 8800GTS 640MB was released as the mid-range alternative to the 8800GTX way back when and has an older G80 GPU core.
The 8800GT (later rebadged as the 9800GT) is a more recent card and uses the faster and more efficient G92 core, similar to that found in the 8800GTS 512 (later rebadged as the 9800 GTX).

If you want more frames run DX9, I noticed very little visual difference but got a big bump in frames.
