Ya know...one thing I think I'm missing with the gauss and PPC in this mod is...I'm gettin' the sneaking suspicion you don't really need to lead the target like you do in the other MW games...
um, yes you do.  The MP-PPC I've never seen anyone survive a direct hit from one, everytime I've hit someone, they're dead.

um, I saw that when I um, played some more with the PPC this evening so um thanks.

Bear Autocannon, hands down. Just hold down the trigger and point at the target. I like using the MP-PPC too, but too many times I nail someone with it, and the hit does not register.

No, just for some reason, BA can occasionally survive a DIRECT HIT.

Even though your own splash damage will one-shot you, I've hit and been hit by the MP-PPC and survived.

I've had that happen a number of times... I remember one time in particular I was facing off against another BA who also had a PPC.  After a short duel I nailed him straight in the face with it and instantly stopped moving to bask in my victory only to have him shoot his PPC a second later hitting and killing me. It's safe to say I was gritting my teeth and to add insult to injury he ran over to my dismantled corpse and did a taunt. I almost always try to carry a Bear just to deal with the bad registry. It seems like my PPC shots don't register a quarter of the time which is enough to make me not use it often against BA.

Sort of off topic question but does the PPC actually fire under water without causing suicide?

I think that weapon should just kill you when used under water.. it's an electricity gun ... right?

I use the Bear as often as possible.. It kills fast in close quarters.

I like the AC2 for sure, although if I can nail it right, I love the splash damage of my SRM-2's

PPC are particle projectile cannons.  In actual mechwarrior fiction, PPC and lasers do not work under water can actually stop at the surface if fire into a body of water.

No its a particle cannon. (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/PPC)

"Fires a concentrated stream of ions at a target"

If you were thinking that it is a lightning cannon because there is a thunder-like noise when it fires it does that because theoretically, sending a bunch of ions though the air would cause the same series of events that causes lightning to cause thunder to happen and I guess the Devs picked up on that.

usually i use flamers. when i first tested them out i found that the splash back alone usually killed me or drained all my shields so i figured they'd be just as deadly against others... and they are. BBQ time!

No but be EXTREMELY CAREFUL using it on Clearcut and Marshes. Any kind of vegetation, even a god damn FERN, will cause splash damage.

The shot will usually continue through and hit the target so you don't have to worry about plants far away, but I've been killed MANY A TIME by my face exploding because of this. Something that seriously needs to be fixed.

Also some of the rocks on Sandblasted and Inferno have horrible geometry problems. It'll look like you can easily shoot through a concave surface - instead it's considered part of the rock face and you die.
