How do you land in this game?

I cant seem to land with the planes at all. I always end up crashing because of how 0 to 60 to 0 the thrusters are. Can someone give me some tips?

The key to landing is....

Hitting the ground without dying

All all seriousness try to be going slowly (tap s to lower your throttle rather then holding it)
and keep your plane as straight to the runway as you can

it's hard, but what i do is approach the run way at about 50%, as i get closer i drop throttle gradually and try to go as level to the ground as possible.  When you're almost skimming the run way drop to 0% and just glide in.

Note: i've never been able to land when i have less than 30% health on my bottom.

I just a joystick, and I find it hard to find any settings besides 0, half, and MAXIMUM POWAAAA

In case of Aeros B = Body
I do pretty much the same thing, but I don't glide in, I set down with about 10% throttle, pointing up just a small notch.
I usually only take a single point of damage that way.

ive found a pretty effective way of landing is to go about 1.3 speed as u line up on the runway. As you get over the runway, get lower and lower and right before you touchdown, angle up just a little bit so the middle-back of the plane hits the ground first, as soon as you are level cut throttle to 0 and then speed up and aim accordingly to repair.  This has worked for me just about every time, havent botched a landing yet.

Landing's a bit of a crapshoot until you've done it right a few times. It's hard to describe, but you'll get a feel for it once you start doing it right. Just follow the suggestions given in this thread, and keep practicing. You'll get it eventually

I saw a guy land an Aero like a VTOL today.

I use the throttle steps on number pad personally.  Take Clearcut as an example, I'll nose down about 30 degrees toward the runway wall, as I cross it I cut power to 60% and level out, then 40% as I enter over the runway, nose up and 20% throttle will semi stall/flare the nose, and 10% as I touch down.  Back to 20% to get to the hangar, 10% as I enter, X to stop, and repair.

I call it gravity-landing. You slow down to very low speed, then cut to 0 and crash-land. It's easier than normal landing but suffers lot more damage.
From outside looks like VTOL landing.

In any case - it's a bad idea and don't try it unless you are total newbie (like I was by the time of trying it)

Doing the VTOL landing with a Sulla is out of the question, but with a Shiva you take 0-10 points of damage as long as you're just above ground when using the air brakes. you can go from ab -> 0 that way.
But whatever you do, don't do it with a Sulla with less then 70% health, as its Really tricky with that glass aero.

Landing:

1. Align your aircraft with the runway with a low approach angle.
2. Fly at relatively low altitude for 10 seconds, this will trigger your landing gear to automatically extend.
3. Reduce your approach throttle so that the control indicator (percentage) drops to 75.
4. As you pas over the runway decrease your throttle to 30% and raise your nose to between 5 and 10 degrees of upward elevation

This should result in a smooth touchdown and leave you with enough speed to safely roll into the hangar for repairs.

Landing:

1. Point your aircraft at some kind of ground structure (hangar, mountain)
2. Accelerate to full speed
3. Hit ground structure

You will be on the ground in no time!

As you respawn, consider the name of the game you are playing, and decide to stop skycamping ;-D

maybe its just me....but the very first time i tried to land an aero it was like i didnt even have to really try, i just came in really slow, gradually cutting throttle and coming down....until i was moving really slow and making contact at the same time and then i was on the ground rolling along...no damage, no drama, not sure why this is difficult for some..
