Bad news for all Crysis-enthusiasts who refuse to have Windows Vista on their gaming PCs. Crytek clearly stated that the DX9 version of the game will not support destructible environment or a day-/night-cycle. In conclusion, there will have to be servers running the DX10 and others running the DX9 version of the game. Here's the full statement:

To shed some light into one of the most discussed topics regarding Crysis multiplayer I would like to explain you the differences between Crysis MP DX9 and DX10.

As for the DX9 version we won’t have physics and day and night cycle in-game. That means you won’t be able to shoot down trees and/or. .. .

Well this just encourages people to start saving up for their new systems. This just gives me more reason to get my 8800 and Vista :P.

Yea I just shelled out $300 on a new Thermaltake 1000 Watt power supply. New generation graphics cards are current hogs!

Not sure that's a good idea will just fragment the game players even more, you want the widest audience possible. I know many people not even thinking about upgrading until the first service pack comes out for Vista, just because so much stuff still doesn't work right when upgrading. If you buy a new system more power to ya, but upgrading is still has alot of driver issues.

We'll see I don't see there being alot of interest in different types of servers to join. That just seems silly.

This is a very transistional time in PC game play. The Vista operating system is here to guide us all from the 32 bit to the 64 bit world of personal computing. While I am sure every member of the Living Legends team would welcome many gamers enjoying the MW:LL MOD, the team must attempt to accomodate existing gamer rigs while keeping a strong eye toward the future and the relentless march of PC gaming technology.

It is a fine line we walk.

 :)

I have had vista for a while now, both 64bit and 32bit, and have had only a very small number of problems with drivers.

Yep. I was about to post this very thought - As soon as I have reason to do so (and that will be when MWLL is released) I will be partitioning and dual booting XP and Vista, SP1 or no SP1.

You guys keep up the good work, there's a lot of old dogs (like me), and young pups (my son), that are looking forward to this game.

One question - did switching game engines in mid-stream set you back any? I'm not asking for a release date...I know better! lol!

Negative. Long story short - We are still in the Pre-production stage and still have plenty of assets to finalize before we receive an SDK. 80% of those assets have been completed but still some of them need minor polish jobs to make them idle for a Gold release. The only thing that we've had to really change around was our Level Design, but that has recently been squared away and we're back on track :).
