it was funny as hell, i cant begin to think how pissed he was... i think his name was examinous or something.. if you are reading this man, HI!
His name is Exanimous, and I had a run in with him as well on Frostbite.
It was early in the game, I had just upgraded to a Cougar Prime and Exanimous asking if anyone had some extra cash for ammo. I happily obliged, giving him the 1000 C-bills or so he needed for more HGauss ammo for his Thanatos. I moved ahead at a brisk pace from the clan hangars and moved to a hillside dotted with trees overlooking a base and saw the main battle happening on the other side of the valley. I crouched and started locking on with LRMs.
A few volleys in Exanimous moves past me and toward the fray. I keep launching missiles, focusing fire on a Hollander that appears to be causing problems for some of our guys before he disappears behind the opposite hillside in a complicated circle of a death. An enemy Uziel presents a target, so I start LRMing him.
As Exanimous gets into the battle he focuses fire on the Hollander, who has now recently appeared. At this point I'm about 120 LRMs left in my launchers, so I start focusing fire on the same Hollander. My missiles fly, Ex fires a HGauss round into the holly, my LRMs connect and blow it sky high. What happened next I have never seen in MWLL.
There is a Team Chat from Exanimous, "Zeus, you stole that kill, you owe me."
I replied, "lol, you're joking, right?" The battle creeps within 600m of my position, so I start raking Large Pulse Lasers into the nearest target along with LRMs. There is no reply as the battle gets intense. My LRMs slam into another mech that I'd been blasting into, blowing it apart.
I jokingly say in team chat, "Oops, sorry, didn't mean to steal that kill."
Exanimous doesn't sound amused, "That's two you owe me for."
I turn around to return to the hangar, having only 10 LRMs left in each launcher (the Cougar carries 240 per launcher) and I respond on the way, "Seriously? I landed 230 LRMs x 2, I don't think I owe you anything."
This started a massive $hi+ storm over chat about how "as a team game I OWE him the money for the kills because he did MASSIVE damage to those enemy mechs."
Ultimately I replied, "Listen, I'm giving you the money because you can use it and I'm fine upgrading to my Vulture Prime, but for the record, I don't OWE you anything. As a team game we work together, and I share cash when I'm able."
Not long after the server crashed and I ran into him on Huntress where he was talking with Karuik (I think) and some of the SJs about joining them. Just so you guys know, this is the type of pilot you might be recruiting. Maybe you think he's right in that I owe him money, but from where I sat, I landed 46 LRM salvos into mechs as well as a large number of LPL hits, I think those kills don't belong to anyone. After all, if the target is so weak that a few LRMs could kill it, why didn't you finish him off?
