Need some help
« on: January 25, 2010, 05:58:03 AM »
Getting the "unable to find Crysis.exe in your games bin64 folder" error.  I have now attempted this install from a clean Crysis install at least 6 times, and cannot discover what is going wrong.

2.7 Dual core AMD
6 gigs ram
Vista 64 bit

Going to sit on the couch and watch this thread with a beverage or 10, else I will jump up and down on my new Crysis DVD.  By the way, is that game any good?  :)

Thanks!

I recall getting this error because it was either not updated correctly, or the patch was corrupted, make sure you get all the updates and hotfixes and try getting them from the best source possible.

I guess ill try downloading all of them again, because i just reinstalled the game, the 1.2 crysis patch, then the hotfix then the mwll patch and still no dice.  Am i doing any of this in the wrong order?

Is the beta supposed to create the bin64 directory? I looked in the crysis directory and there isn't one there.

The steam version does not have the 64bit version.

The bin64 folder is located in Crysis/Mods/mwll/

That's true but introduces confusion.

There are TWO bin64 folders, one in Crytek\Crysis and one in Crysis\Mods\mwll\
the mod creates the one in the mwll's folder, the one in the main Crysis folder is created by the normal disc install.

which one are you talking about Gremlich?

The mwll/bin64 is used to run the Mod, the other is for the regular Crysis irrc.

The there's in a dll in the mwll\bin64 that supports the mod, but to run it, it needs to go through the crysis\bin64  with the -mwll in the shortcut path.

And how do I get this to work?  -mod\bin64 mwll?

you need to make a short cut to the exe.  for instance i install from the disc to the default directory (i'm using win 7 64bit fyi)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis

Since i know that i need to make a shortcut to the right exe, for me it's the following
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe" -mod mwll -dx9

see pic below
