Since this thread was lost i thought id rez it, this game is well worth the pre-order if you ask me. demo is on steam, XBL(lol), and PS3(still lol).

it takes time to get used to but its a great game, love being the alien, ripping off heads with your claws is just so satisfying! trophy kill is the new headshot....

If only going for a trophy kill didn't make you a sitting duck for the guy that is always behind you, to trophy kill you in return ;)

From what I've seen it could be fun, but it won't be published here in Germany... ::)
Can't be bought in Stores/with a german Steam Acc, even the demo was simply removed from every german gameslist (although there is a workaround)
Maybe I'll import it, but seeing as Sega doesn't give a crap about us beer gobblers, I'll probably just download it, they don't expect sales here anyway.

well I played it most of today. I love AVP and that is what makes me play it, but it is a DRM nightmare of a game.

Multiplayer is a laggy nightmare thanks to constant disk checks, not to mention you rarely get to play as your favorite race. If you get D/Ced in SINGLE PLAYER, you get kicked to main menu, no save.

Other than that, great game.

Yep, had it happen twice in mid campaign. My network connection hiccuped and I got booted. Fun times.

Will say positive bit. Multi-species team dm, Funnest thing ever. My little bro rides in as pred and I cover him from the roof as alien=pwn

Ouch, that's gotta suck. Just like my new internet. Connected at 5.1 mbps, downloading at a record breaking 20kBps. /sigh.

You can just copy the game folder somewhere, put a crack on it and enjoy single-player, even with no Internet connection.
Since my brother decided to import the game, that's what I did, works like a charm ;)

Yes, but I am drawn to shiny objects like a child, namely in game achievements.

If you were a fan of multiplayer in AvP2, be warned: you may not like the new combat mechanics.

Marine and Predator equipment works more or less as expected, but for the xenomorphs out there... The Marines can block Alien attacks. Okay, true, any race can block any other race's melee attacks, but the new rock-paper-scissors mechanic rips the beating heart of immersion right out and mashes it into gooey red paste on the floor, particularly for Alien fans.

Added to that sad fact is that STEAM is required, so forget about reselling the game if you discover the new combat mechanics aren't what you were expecting.

not to mention you shine in the dark. you can still be scary though. It's just the aliens get no love like all the other AVP's

As an almost-exclusively Alien player on the PC versions of AvP and AvP2, I beg to differ: Aliens' mobility has always been underrated, and they actually are very powerful. Only in certain situations, such as against an extremely good Marine sniper on an open map, or against a pistol-spamming Predator on a low-player-count enclosed map, are Aliens handicapped.

Granted, the Aliens in AvP were unbelievably fast, and in AvP2 I almost always played as a Runner. Speed is life!

(Incidentally, my favorite MWLL mech thus far is the Osiris B. :)
