Hello, for we are Bacon.
« on: February 10, 2010, 03:48:41 AM »
I'm new here, and I just reinstalled Crysis... When I did that, the internet came to my door, and drop kicked me in the teeth and asked me why I didn't have this mod installed... I found it, looked at screenshots/vids, enjoyed what I saw and totally want to be part of it!

I just played it a little for the first time... All I can say is that it's in an obvious beta. There was a lack of tutorial in-game, so I ran around like an imbecile, lol. I quit out because I sucked too hard.

But the game looked gorgeous, commendations all around. The only complaint I have is that the mech's legs move so fast...

Fast light mechs move fast! Hop in a heavy or assault and all of a sudden you feel like you're crawling!

Anywho, if you haven't had any experience with Mechwarrior games or the battletech universe you will find the learning curve to be challenging.

Ah, actually... Many a year ago, I walked into PC Richard and saw a game with a price tag of 10 bucks. I'm cheap, so that aroused me immensely. Then I look at the box itself, it had a mech on the cover... and Mech in the name... and a 3 somewhere in there.

So actually I did have Mechwarrior experience, but not too much lol. I never gotten far in MW3.

Speaking of which, I'm gonna reinstall MW3 on my comp. But I have a followup question. MW3 didn't work on my Vista, but now I have W7, will it work here?

never tried MW3 on Win7 and I'm doubtful it can work perfectly, but you may be able to change some settings to configure windows better. If all fails, google it and see if anyone has tried it yet. As for MWLL being hard, yes it can be a very hard challenge at first. I advise using tanks to get use to the game first then switch to mechs, that helped me get the hang of things and now i only pilot mechs.

I prefer the armor of a heavy to the speed of a light with paper for armor. 3 Gausses 4 tops to the same panel on any torso and boom time.

Hmm, yess... I really think I should play MW3 again, because you just spoke Vietnamese to me just now.

I do advise a tutorial for those who aren't savvy with this game... Something simple should be fine, take a screenshot, and point out what does what, etc.

On youtube there are two tutorial videos that does a good job explaining the game play mechanics. It was posted on the homepage not long ago.  ;)

Same here.  I bought a used copy of mech 2 ghost bear at half-price and played it for about 6 months on net-mech.  I was looking for a new stick to play it, and came across the sidewinder force feedback packed with mech3.  It was love at first sight. :)

My armor is never paper thin and you will have a hard time hitting it...lol.
I always strip/work a heavy/assault to death.

Play in MW open servers, MWL....you'll see.

Any of you play MW Merc's ?

Welcome to the forum.  MWLL is a awesome MOD, and considering just how amazing of a accomplishment it is in BETA, the offical full release will be spectacular.  It received high praise from MODDB for a reason. =]

And yea, there is a learning curve for the game but there is plenty of help in the form of those two tutorial vids, ingame info on boards, and you can always ask questions while playing a match.

I am satisifed across the board with this MOD, just a terrific accomplishment and is re sparking interest in Mechwarrior.

I would easily pay cash money for a singleplayer component. Indeed this is a fantastic accomplishment. I haven't played Mechwarrior in forever, I missed it! XD

best way to learn is just get in there and play.  I'd never played a second of MW in my life, only took me a day or so to get where I'm at now.  Big slow targets, many hitscan weapons = pretty easy to catch on imho ;)  Tutorial may be helpful, but just playing will be more helpful ;)
