More servers need to run user maps... that's the problem. :P

If people keep making them ill keep on helping to host them   8)

Yes we do need more gamestyles but  i'll be patient and wait for the next update to see what has been done/fixed/improved/added.. etc.

The ToS gamestyle i personally like. It just unfortunate that alot of people only know how to play Solaris and then they get into TOS, they buy the biggest mech they can.. get a couple kills, wonders about not getting extra cbills, go to  repair (if they make it that far) find out how much it just cost to repair.. go out and die, then leave the server.. then you get a unbalanced server, people complain about stacking.. and it just goes on. I find that running 60 min solaris and 30 min ToS kinda helps but I personally would like to run 60 minute or longer rounds on the big maps- but i try to take the opinions of others and try to find a nuetral or time/map cycle that people will agree on

Crashagn,

Your server is usually my first choice to join because you have user maps in the rotation.  The only thing that bothers me is that ToS is usually set to 60 mins.  I think that is way to long.  Generally, if you join in the last 15 minutes it is all BA's running around.  40 minutes might be a happy medium for them.  I like ToS much better than the missile wars on the stock SA maps.  I just think 60 mins is a bit long.

I would love to see servers host the 'Extremity' map. It's such a beauty of a map and would surely fresh things up from the daily 'Desert/Volcano/Hills'-routine.

I think you guys are blowing this a bit out of proportion.  Threads titled in a fashion like these do not help either.  They make everyone feel like shit.  Possibly the devs too.  Don't you think the devs are aware that gamers need an ever producing content factory to sustain interest?  Do you think they can go out an hire 20 new devs to do that?  I just hope that all the people that were so vocal for an open beta release are sticking it out now that they've burned through all the available content.

This isn't a release and you can effectively look at the people playing the game right now as closed beta testers which is always a small and waning/waxing population as people come to their own comfort levels with the state of the game they are testing.  I've been testing games on and off for years now and some games I will test vociferously for the entirety of the beta but others I will test for awhile and return again at the next update.

The game's population will go up with each update and then trickle down as it does with every game ever made.  The players that are really into the game will pick it up with every update and the players that aren't we didn't want anyway.  If the game has a long run it will have little to do with the playability of the game and way more to do with it's simulation format and in the case of a mod its exposure via advertising.

I think unfortunately for game developers the beta concept is totally lost on many gamers.  Betas have become sneak peaks and 'free' games for gamers who then go out and report on the game as if it were polished.  The other unfortunate thing is that I can't imagine that the devs at MWLL have the same resources and time that a professional studio has; this will mean that updates can't be scheduled at a fast clip as the jobs that feed them and pay the rent will always take priority.

The devs need from us something that is in very short supply.  Patience.  Perhaps a pinch of optimism too?  And then a little resilience as well to pick the game up again with the next update.  My only advice is to focus the remaining testers via the forums.  If the devs need data on something tell us to focus on a specific server at a specific time with a specific set of tests.  Maybe it's worth testing what happens when all 64 players take Aero at the beginning of a match for example.  That would never happen without a mandate from the devs and might actually be fun to experience and reinvigorate the testing community?

The other thing I would suggest is getting Steam or Crysis to advertise the mod for a week when the final update occurs.  Get in touch with them.  Have them play it.  Ask them if they want to hand out some free advertising.   Who knows what they will say.  Show crysis the data on who bought the game for the mod.  Maybe a one week spot on steam is worth the additional revenue to them.  Companies think outside of the box these days and micro-transactions add up.

Lastly, I'll say to my fellow testers that you should fortify yourselves to the reality that there will be LONG intervals in between updates that are released at unspecified times.  In the mean time help the map builders test their maps.  Palisades is awesome the day I got to play it.  I also suggest that server hosts put a description in their server titles describe the map cycles and game types they have.

He's right.  Though as keen as i am to get something new to play around with, we still gotta be patient and try to support the dev team in any way we can. I'm pretty sure no one on these forums wants the mod to die and the devs to forsake the mod. I'm sure they are busy already with their lives and their jobs, unlike a dev team which designs games as their profession 5 days as a week.
What would you do if the development of the mod was cancelled and the project came to a sudden halt or an end because people suddenly got fed up and deserted the mod after having drooled all over the keyboard for past year or two before the beta? I think you'd find yourself shocked and once again looking for the next MWLL.

Ya.. i changed that in the levelrotation awhile ago.. TOS is only 30 minutes untill more people can understand the gametype.. or if we scrim another unit then it will be adjusted accordingly

This is kind of to be expected for a beta so I wouldn't worry too much.  Beta's kind of live on a patch-by-patch basis as more and more features/units/fixes/balances get slowly implemented as time goes on.

Once we get major stuff like Mechlab in and some new game modes among other things to potentually push this puppy out of beta or near release level then there'll be more players playing and willing to stick around :)

Compared to some other mods, MWLL has lots of players, usually, I see at least two nicely populated servers any time I play.
Compare that to Renegade X, which I've been trying to test out in the last few days, I'm lucky if there's one server with anyone at all, the most I've seen were 6 players and that mod isn't fun with so few people...

I'm sure there's a lot of people lurking and watching the mod for the next patch.  Like it's been said, that's the nature of beta.  People will check out a mod for hype, see what the features are, then decide to wait for a more polished version.  Even the competitive MW leagues are waiting for a more stable and feature filled release before starting their ladder/planetary battle systems.

Inferno is not too bad (the lower FPS sucks) but with 2 balanced teams it can turn into quite a fun little map. The reason I find most people cry about it is they can't sit 1000m apart from the other sides battle line and slug it out with arrows and LRM's. They don't like having to actually aim at a mech to kill it or actually getting pushed back with little to know warning from a good flank. The only thin I think its lacking besides an FPS fix is a defense turret or two to discourage base raping and maybe positioning the bases a tad bit further apart.

Korjax, is the picture in your Sig an updated Clearcut? Looks like there are some rocks added to help smooth out the missile camping.
