great argument as to why not i must say!

here's why so:  the Harrasser C is super cheap, and generally a #1 pick for many people just entering the game, so there are usually quite a few out on the field at any given time...  with their 1 shot gauss and their mguns, no matter where the aero is, they're easy pickings.  Too easy.  Not only that, but they're quite easy to pick off with any mech that has a gauss, even with the mechs vertical view limitations.  Add to that MBLs and LBLs which do massive amounts of damage to aeros as well...

next to BAs, aeros are the weakest things in the game.

the gauss killing aeros makes sense, the fact is a HARRASSER, for a veeery small amount of a money, is capable of pulling out a 1 shot weapon against aeros.

Weird, I could talk about how cheap and easy ASFs and VTOLs are too, though I'd be using different meanings of the words...

Well if the Dev's make AC 5's on the partisan prime useful I won't bother with the harasser. Right now the dual MG's on the harasser are better than the quad AC 5's on the Partisan. Due to dmg, refire rate, and travel time. Also add in the amount of lag shielding VTOL's get I'll take a gauss over anything else on the market atm because you might be lucky to get 2 hits to take the damn thing down. Hell even Aeros warp as well. Though not as badly. Till the warping gets fixed anything requiring a large volume of time and ammo to kill a target is next to useless and that is the fatal flaw in the other "useful AA" starter. I've stopped counting how many times I've lost control of my mouth when chatting with my buddy because Laghop McCoy  managed to hop, ship, and jump his ass back to base for repair and rearm and then come back(in less than 2min) and kill off another teammate or two doing his lag routine. The only good way to get rid of aerospace and VTOL's atm is to hit them so hard they go to pieces, which means hitting them with a gauss and using UAC 5's or MG's to finish them off.

[snip]

Of course it is NOT Punkbuster. I have no idea where that thought even came from?

For one, the newspost clearly states that

we've reassigned our coders from working on new features to working on protective measures

I got the idea by wildly speculating, since no one wanted to talk about it. I assume the worst when no one wants to talk.

And no, "working on protective measures" does not mean "working on custom protective measures". You could have been modifying another anti-cheat program.

I'm just glad it isn't punkbuster.

Well, i've got a bigger question: did you guys fix the Mad Cat A?

When you look on the list this what it says for the Mad Cat A: Dual SSRM 6, 2 ER PPCs, 3 Medium Pulse Lasers, 2 Mguns.

But when you buy it you get this: LRM 20, and all the rest: (2) ER PPC, 3 Medium Pulse Lasers, 2 Mguns.

So. . .

Feel free to post this remarks in our bug reports section if it hasn't been done before. We do read over those so stuff like this helps us improve the mod. Especially "little" things like that which can be easily overseen.

Cheers!

Perhaps I misspoke here, and I have already reported it there, Seraph. Just wanted to know if it was taken care of. Out of those four versions, it's the closest I'll get to the Mad Cat Variant D. Which would be nice to have, if you don't me saying so. I just hope that the Summoner (Thor) comes in with the C variant in mind.

In any case, thank you for looking over the matter. Good day.

The fact that the Harasser-C is AWESOME versus air isn't that huge of an issue. It's the fact that it's amazing vs air, amazing vs BA and still a darn good choice for the money vs Armor. Why would you use a different variant?

Yes, please keep taking the Harasser C... my mech won't mind. Not one bit. You may want to put some salt on your armor for taste however.

Except for the fact that every four-eyed kid with a Red Ryder BB Gun can blow you up.

For the price it packs a punch, and with GECM it can employ it at range where a large number of mechs don't have much chance of hitting you, much less doing enough to finish you off. Sure scrubs that drive it right into the fray against heavy mechs won't have much luck. But I imagine it can be pretty annoying to just whittle away at them from 1.2km  or so.
