Pretty, like garnished parsley next to steak and potatoes. Who won? By how much? Which mechs and gameplay types were used?
It was a scrimmage so there was no "win or lose". The basic rules for this particular match was as follows:
7 Players per side
350K C-bills maximum per team
Each team had to use at least 4 mechs
No ejecting
Repairs and ammo reloads allowed
One reconnect per team per game (this was decided during the match when a player got disconnected)
30 minute time limit with 5 minute set up time at beginning of game.
Everything else goes.
I posted my impressions of the match over on the CHH forums but I will share my thoughts here also:
"All I know is that this is what this game is made for. Jumping into public games and running out to kill or die cheapens the "life" of a Warrior whether he be in a mech, tank or aerospace. I know that a lot of players (some of whom I have introduced to the game) have already quit MWLL for this very reason. But the matches that were played last night were different. They brought out everything that can be great about this game. Life became precious if for no other reason than you let your team down if you did something stupid like rushing in and getting killed. People took their shots and then made orderly withdraws to repair and get more ammo. As players did that other players covered the withdraw to guard against an attack. Communication was good which added to the overall experience. If someone went down someone else stepped up to take his place. Some CHH members were heroic in their roles.
If you can not tell, I had a great time both spectating and playing in a match. I can hardly wait until the next time. It inspires me to spend more time playing and trying to get better so I can contribute to CHH getting even better.
I wish every person that tried MWLL could experience the game like it was played last night."
