yeah they had leagle issues with the original producers of the table top (not the makers) something about design issues because they owned the moulds for some of the mechs...
Uhm... No.
The legal issues are with Harmony Gold, who hold the right to the Robotech franchise in the US.
The design issues stem from Fasa blatantly stealing a few Robotech designs back in the day, now it comes back to bite them, again.
Yea, the problem was with a group of mechs called 'The Unseen' which were some of the original mechs of Battletech, blatant ripoffs of some Robotech stuff. The 'Unseen' mechs were eventually redesigned enough so they could be re-released and are now called the 'Reseen'. The Warhammer used in the MW5 trailer is one of the 'Unseen'. My
pure guess is that Harmony Gold got wind of one of those mechs that were originally in the lawsuit was in there, thought they could make some easy legal cash and sent out a notice, they remade the Whammy with the reseen look, and told Harmony Gold 'no u, we have reseen now' and it went away. Speculation, though.
Edit: I just read something, and apparently the Whammy in the MW5 trailer is actually a Warhammer and a Rifleman (the unseen versions) crushed together. I suppose that makes it a re-reseen more resembling the old style. (The Reseen Warhammer is FUGLY.. aw hell, here, I'll show you):

Actually, to be a little more accurate, FASA claimed that the images they used for the Unseen mechs were licensed to them from another company (one who didn't have the rights to do so, meaning that either FASA lied about that or they got conned).
