They make mech mod charts to allow you to retrofit battlemechs (as in, upgrade a Warhammer 5DSK to a 7DSK) and swap out omni ports on omnimechs. Like change a mad dog's arms from lasers to missiles. They are not the swap and trade Armored core esque things found in the mechwarrior games of late. Light mechs are great, faster mechs are excellent hit and run mechs, as you can see in MWLL they can be the scourge of larger, more focused units, and are the best at handling an attack from personnel units like BA, but the LAMS does not accomplish any of this. It was simply an early addition when they were stealing from Macross, and phased out asap.

You do know that in the next core rule book they will reintroduce LAMs?
Though only really available in the Star league era.

---------------------------------------
As for Motorcycles well they do exist in B-tech and even come in hovercraft verity's. But for the Most Part Battle armor are not suited to ride them. At 1,000kg a Elemental (or it's IS counter parts) I'd think is a bit on the bulky side to really ride a bike. The much lighter and less bulky PA/Ls might be able to, but MWLL dose not have any of that class in game, and if they where they would be Elemental bait. They would be small fast and agile but they would not be able to take a hit, as even a Small laser could kill one on a single hit.

Though for the most part if an Battle armor infantry squad needed to go some place fast, they could either hitch a ride on a Omni mech/tank or if one was not available on a APC that has enough room for them, Hover APCs are popular for their speed, VTOLs are also popular for the BA taxi roles.

I am sorry but I am hesitant to believe "they" will be making a "new" anything for some time, especially since FASA is gone and the lead creator is dead. Perhaps the fangroup BattleCorps but not FASA.

Well I found the part of Battletech books I was looking for.
I now know MatthewPryde needs to read more rule books for Battletech

No! To refit from from a Warhammer 5DSK to a 7DSK you buy the refit kit

(From Mercenary's Handbook 3055 (1670))

Now this rule is for starting Mercenary group, but as you can see, customization is part of the Battletech Game.

(From Battletech Field Manual (1701))
