How come no one is talking about MRMs?
« on: February 27, 2010, 09:09:12 PM »
I really enjoy these new missiles even though they are on a limited number of mechs. The only one i know of off the top of my head is the thanatos. It may be the only one, but anyway, I think they need to be slightly faster, because right now when you fire them a mech standing at 500m can be standing still and begin moving once i fire then all the missiles miss. These MRMs are great for hitting LTA and campers tho since at 600m when the camper is just chilling you can pack a serious blow. Also is great to use with narc/tag.

I use them like i use lasers, you gotta using a sweeping motion to stay on target, well in this case ahead of the target to compensate for travel time.

One Warhammer variant is equipped with a LRM-20.

You can guide the MRM with your crosshair, like SRM with no lock. With a bit practise (one salvo should be enough practise...) its not such a big deal to achieve hits with it.

BTW: I miss a Bushwacker with a MRM-40 mounted on the left arm.
::) And i would give my first-born for a Thanatos A with MRM instead of SRM...

EDIT: And please no MRMs at all for the Clan-scum. They don't like the whole idea of MRM (referring to the BTU) and they do not deserve them in MWLL.  :P
(Hey, everywhere I only find pro-clan-posts. And who takes care of your origins, the Inner Sphere?!? IS is the only right choice! Hah! Clanners are traitors with a twisted mind! -except the Novas-)

Yea, the IS is missing a medium mech with some mid range punch. Since 2 out of 4 Bushwacker variants are seriously undergunned or require too much micromanagement, a MRM would perfectly fit on it.

I love the MRMs and I'm sure many other people do too. Their exactly as I hoped they would be. I just want Mechlab so I can get more use out of them and take the MRM40 for a spin. Are there any designs I missed that have MRMs other than the Thanatos and Warhammer?

As far as Clanners using them though I'm all for puretech. IS tech only on IS Mech/Vehicles and same for Clan. They're probably going to end up getting Heavy Lasers anyway. 4 Heavy LBL Nova Cat is going to be death incarnate, albeit with heat and accuracy problems.

If they keep adding the obscure toys I will be very very happy. The HAGs/Silver Bullet Gauss Rifle and the Plasma Rifle/Cannon would be awesome.

Oh yes, i agree 100%. I would even be a fan of IS spawn only IS-tech, Clan side only Clan-tech.

But I think I'm nearly alone with that wish. But I look hopeful forward to new gamemodes...  :)

You are not alone   8)

and some of us even have dreams the league play would follow the lore immersion with the customary bartering by those awesome Clans. Oh and after the barter session they get to tell the mighty SahKan why they bid so many expensive mechs to defeat the "freebirths" who have no skill or honor and drive pitiful mechs.
Oh and by the way for the true blooded clanners who don't leg or shoot a mech in the back or shoot a mech when it's down from heat problems I tip my hat to you and as an IS pilot with honor will return the courtesy; as for those others Clan mech drivers that have not that degree of honor - may your legs continue to fall off and yes I will shoot your honorless carcass in the back as you run to your base. Course this is all a dream but we can dream can't we.

i only wish that mrms didn't obscure my vision every time i fire them.  I love how they hit and how they fly, just wish that after i fired them i could still see without 20 bright showy contrails all over the screen
Wherever mechs are needed, I am there

MRM30 fyi HIGH heat curve :P  I know that's how it supposed to be, just wasn't expecting it when it used it for the first time on Inferno.

MRM's are my new favorite anti-tank missiles. SRM's were hands down the best missiles against tanks before their introduction, but MRM's are godlike on a Mech with jump jets against tanks.
Those missiles are one of the best introductions of a cbt weapon into the mod, they scatter, miss faster mechs a lot and are a pain for tanks and ba.
I'm still concerned that the heat build up is still being too low on MRM 20's but that's just my opinion.

The trashcan babies can have their honor. I'll laugh at them as I flaunt the Long Tom Cannon and MRMs they won't use due to those weapons being "barbaric".

With no melee combat though there goes a huge reason to pick IS over Clan. I just hope that the IS get more of their weird toys in order to even the odds against the Clanner's better tech. In fact, I'm pretty sure C3 is IS only tech, so it would just be dandy if it was removed from the Cougar.
