Joystick POV Controls
« on: February 27, 2010, 10:59:24 PM »
Hi Everyone,

The dev team is reaching out to you, our users, to find out what you are using your POV hat for (or more accurately what you want to use the POV hat for).

Post your feedback here for me to carry back to the dev team.

I want to be able to look left, right and behind my vehicle, even if I can't shoot in that direction I'm looking.  This would really help when backing up to ensure I don't run into someone or something.

Now as for Hat up, perhaps it should be to look down instead like I think I recall it was in MW4, sometimes can be very useful for when you're jumping your mech over something, or if you're in an aerospace you can see if your bomb hit the target or if you were off.

i would like to see the hat used for side and back views as well. And the down view would be handy to see what my mech is hung up on as I always seem to be getting stuck on something.

I agree. Sides, back, and down cameras with firing locked out when using the exterior cameras. Maybe allow shooting from individual arms down the road if it is something that is possible to implement. Right now with no rear camera I think the 'Mechs with the 360 degree torso twist are not receiving the full benefit of the torso twisting.

Check the Documentation Folder in the 0.2.0 Release.  It is part of the distribution.

As for the use of the POV hat - I totally would use it for viewing around me too, but the game doesn't have this feature... (yet?)

I'd use UP for zoom in, DOWN for zoom out, LEFT target nearest enemy, RIGHT target under reticule.

Respectfully, you guys have not answered the question.  We will take requests for additional reviews under advisement, but what I believe Torin is asking for is information to help us develop control profiles to map existing functions to the POV hat.

Oh. That is not how the question was posed.

Hi Everyone,

Post your feedback here for me to carry back to the dev team.

To me that sounded like a question asking us what we use it for OR what in the future we would like to use it for. Currently I do not use it for anything because I personally can't imagine using it for anything except an external view. Hence why I stated to add in directionals that can be viewed with the use of the POV Controls.

I like to use my pov hat for configuring weapons groups and firing systems.
"But if someone who thinks they're good does something evil in it's name?"
"That is Evil's pervasive nature, my student. It is manipulative and caculating like a wolf in sheep's skin. Many would say that Good and Evil are relative to the individual. No, they are absolutes, and we fail to see that, as we have both good and evil within in us. We were made in god's image, but we were made with the base clay of the earth. If we are to truly defeat evil in all it's forms, we must not allow ourselves to think we are perfectly righteous, and we must not allow ourselves to falter in our ideals, no matter what happens to us."

Ah, ok guess I misread the question.  However, speaking for myself I can't see using it for any other purpose than for cockpit viewing aids.

Similar to what Haunted and others said, if I can't use the POV hat for POV funtions, it's mapped to zoom and targetting most likely.

UP :  Zoom toggle
DOWN : nearest enemy
LEFT:  Previous enemy
RIGHT:  Next enemy
