My new anti Tom weapon of choice is the Shiva B 40 lrms almost always destroys a 100% health one.  Tip fire the Narc last just in case he has a buddy with AMS in the area.  This way your buddies can finish it off while you're banking all the AAA fire.

The other night, whenever a Long Tom came on the field, my entire team goes "AHHH, LONG TOMS!" and we go passive, almost instantly nullifying it's effect on us as we'd annihilate anything that even attempted to scout our position out.  We did it all without air support too (okay, I went air, and it was dead just as I got the lock on from my LRM Shiva).  Nova Cats are the shiz  ;D

Also all you have to do is get close enough with LOS to use a ER LBL or ER PPC or Gauss and the tank won't last long and at the very least scare the shit out of the driver.

I was having good luck flanking South in a novacat on Sandblasted last night - had the armour to take a hit from it or to shrug off light/medium attacks, and the power to kill it in a couple of volleys :D

On Marshes I tried making it my sole mission to wipe out the Long Tommer - he kept switching bases, but I was still able to nail on 1/3 of my runs him in a light mech.  Depended if the rest of the team was spawning then or not ;)  He wasn't a great shot  - I think he killed as many of his team as he did me whilst trying to land a shell on me XD

Infact i've seen a LT gunner killing 6 of his own team!! in one shot yesterday on marshes. That is my personal favorite for the most hilarious TK of all time in MWLL.

Long toms just teach everyone to go passive.  I actually dislike them for this very reason and this reason only.  Hunting mechs is so much easier when everyone is running active and sadly those days are numbered.

Everyone going passive just makes BHP mechs especially with C3 even that much more valuable.

No, C3 mechs aren't that valuable.  You don't get C3 data when your radar is set to passive.
Thanks for the view.

didn't know that. :(

It's something that should be changed, creating more demand for C3 mechs.

No way.  C3 is appropriately valuable and passive running mechs are difficult enough to spot.  I can't imagine combining the power of a passive mech with C3 capability.

I agree. Thats IMO the main point of a C3: Share his data to his team so they don't have to get the data by themselves (which means going active). So many mechs got BAP/BHP... There is no real use for scouts atm. They mainly help the camper-classes (LRM-boats/LT/aircamper) of this game. But just my opinion.

C3 is great for helping find the battle and spot movements, but it is most useful for long toms.

I am on the fence with regard to sharing with passive mechs - on the one hand, it makes for an increase in importance of the light scout mech roles, on the other it just encourages everyone to be passive all the time.

Of course, with no active radar, how does one receive complex radar info, even from a computer network?

Some people just don't change ...

Instant whiners .. just add Long Tom ...

It is just another weapon that has to be considered in an overall strategy to win the day ... sit and shoot missiles from long range or have to move because there is a Tom inbound ... it isn't rocket science ...

I have no idea of what you're talking about, but I think what you're trying to say is "stop bitching about LT's being OP".

But no one is bitching here, this is the opposite of bitching, this is adapting and overcoming.
