"your MWLL installation..." message (multiplayer)
« on: March 01, 2010, 09:36:24 PM »
Ok, not sure if this is a bug, an install problem or what.

Install process has been.
Install Crysis. restart pc. play it.
Patch to 1.2. restart pc, play it.
Patch to 1.21. restart pc, play it.
Finally got the multiplayer to recognise i have a crynet account.
Installed MWLL mod.

1st launch was not giving me option for 64 bit, and had an error message about an AudioVideoDirectx problem. Resolved by going to DX site and selecting the last redist hosted (02/05/10).

new launcher gives me the 64bit game version, doesnt give me the AudioVideoDirectx message.

Quote
Before updatign DX, when attempting to connect to a game via direct IP, i got the following message:
Your MWLL Installation has modified files.
Please Revert them to their original state to play.

in this box, and below this message is an accept key. Which says:
Quote
@ui_btn_DONE

pressing this takes me back to the multiplayer games list screen.
if i hit any other button other than "quit" the game hangs, and i have to Ctrl-Alt-Del and kill it in task manager.

any ideas????

edit.

also just noticed that there are no servers coming up in the list. is that right???

have checked my firewall settings and its all ticked to allow crysis but nothing shows up in the list of inbound allowances....

You most likely got a corrupted download someway on the path from the server to your computer. Please check it's md5sum against the one posted here:

http://www.thelivinglegends.net/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=93

You can use this simple tool, just drag and drop the MWLL Setup on it to calculate it's MD5sum:

http://www.pc-tools.net/win32/md5sums/

If they don't match you need to redownload the mod.

thanks..

heres what i get.

My version (dl via bit torrent)
64f7079a152a89266294aca1d63c5353

and the link version you gave
b2e9cbfc9851018096048ff611c9453e

clearly different.

so, if i get a fresh dl (not using the torrent), i should be able to just overwrite the current install, which will replace the files correctly, and not have to uninstall the whole crysis game again.

right, wheres that manual dl link gone.....

My version (dl via bit torrent and from german dl mirror, which took 18 min to dl.)
64f7079a152a89266294aca1d63c5353

and the link version you gave

Do not run the checksum over the downloaded file. It's just a text file with the MD5sum in it which is :

64f7079a152a89266294aca1d63c5353

So your download seems to be OK.

Things to check:

1. did you delete any of the MWLL splash videos?
2. did you try and extract the PAK files? (don't do this)
3. did you add any files to your build other than inside the Levels/Multiplayer folder?
4. did you try to apply 0.2.0 as a "patch" over an existing 0.1.0 mwll directory?  (don't do this, delete the existing mwll directory first)

4. is very important. Completely remove that directory to be sure you have no remnants of an earlier installation that might interfere with your installation.

Ok

now im stumped. It works.
Uninstalled old crysis then deleted all mod files.
Installed Crysis. checked multiplayer. i can see servers at last.
Patched to 1.2. I can still see servers.
Patched to 1.2.1 I can still see servers.
Installed MWLL, launched 64bit, i can join servers!!!!

Next stop, see if i can get the Saitek Cyborg Gold config'd and usable, and get used to the controls ingame in case i cant get the stick running. Been going through the stick xml 101 posts, its long, and i think i have a n idea about it, but time will tell.
Another next step is to try and host my own game, even if just so i can practice without being owned every step :D
