Community Release Map!! SA Paradise

haha JOKE! I forgot to log out of my brother's acct....fail...anyhoo...

I am proud to announce the release of the first community map, SA Paradise.  I started this project approximately a year ago and am proud to finally release it to the community.  For all of you mappers out there, this is an example of how to organize the map folder so that it is clean and easy to navigate through.  In order to play this map all you need to do is download the zip file from the link provided and unzip the map into Mods/Game/Levels/SA.  I hope you enjoy this map as much as I enjoyed making it!  If any of you mappers out there need help getting your maps to be playable in game, send me a PM and I'll help you out.

From the screens it looks awesome! I can't wait to see it in action. Does that volcano actually have eruptions kind of like the effect on Inferno?

Oh dear GOD! can we toss it up on the server rotations?! or maybe remove extremity and replace it with this....

Woot, glad to see this one out, Spyro!  Way to go!

This is the map that the underwater shots were taken on, correct?  Also, is that big-ass VTOL still on here?  I haven't played it in a long time.

CHH will have this in rotation ASAP.

As much as I might be over Extremity, myself, and would like to at least see it rotate through CHHs' servers, I have to agree with our leadership that it's best to leave all the available maps in so the devs can continue to get good data on everything. Any one of the server admins can alter the level rotation on their server, so it's up to them, but all the original maps will be remaining on the CHHš Battleboxes for the foreseeable future.

I do expect, however, that as soon as the map is distributed that it will be added to the rotation soon.

that wasn't released with beta so unfortunately no, I actually removed Aerospace and VTOL's all together for this release...might put them back in when I put an update in later down the road (probably when MWLL goes Wars thanks to the auto-updater).  After speaking with Seraph and Cujo I took em off due to lack of cover from air assets...I looked and though to myself how deadly 1 Aero with a NARC and a crap ton of missle mechs would be...to many places to hide and unleash hell.  Oh and yes it is the mysterious map from those underwater screenshots.

I found it but the site is saying that the link is not valid yet. A torrent or Filefront mirror would be pretty awesome. I've had issues with Crymod in the past but we will see how this goes.

I gotta go to bed...I'll deal with it in the morning.  The file hasn't been activated on Crymod.com thus the reason you see it but can't download it.

It's not activated yet. You shouldn't expect that it would be within 60 minutes of uploading the file to Crymod. That's what i was saying :)

Few things;
1) You included the .svn folders, which effectively almost doubles the file size. So you should delete them next time in order to keep the size down. File size is now 60MB -> 37MB.
2) This guide is handy for future uploads to Crymod. Makes our job easier and files get activated quicker because we don't have to spend time taking screenshots and formatting BB code: http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=54910

Suggestions for the map;
1) There's no grass in the majority of the map which makes it look unnatural:


2) There's grass coming through the floor (but disappears when you get closer)


3) These trees are probably the heaviest of all the vegetation on resources. It looks like the sprite/view distance ratios are set badly and it's absolutely destroying the frame rate. You should use these trees as sparingly is possible if you want to retain decent performance:



4) Just my opinion, but i think the colour of the river looks unnatural:


5) There seems to be an issue with this effect on the water:


6) Not sure if it's the model or if shadows just haven't been enabled on this building:


Positive notes; i loved what you did with the crash landing of the shuttle/space craft and how it crashed through the trees and destroyed the ground :D

I can put all the grass back in to be solid however that was done to be better on the resources.  The water thing is not avoidable that I've seen as the particle is meant to be used on water volumes instead of the ocean.  I'll see to the mechhangar stuff as that hangar was recently but in.  I'll take a look at the trees thing too
