All in One Tool
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:53:52 PM »
At the moment i'm develop a tool for MWLL that can manage your server (Mapchange, KickPlayer, Ban player etc...). And you can create easy server.cfg's and levelrotation for all who have no time, chance or what ever to do this...

When anyone have some impression what else can be in that tool let me know...

PS: i hope this is okay @devs :)

when i'm ready the SourceCode and the Software will be OpenSource under the LGPL licence

very nice, looking forward to it.  Will it allow for in game changes or are these done outside on the server?

Administrate the server via in-game commands like chat (after authenticating against the server) or similar. Basically you can do map changes when already in game without having to TAB out.

In the final Version you can setup so many Server as you want... In the first Beta Version it will be limited to 5 Server...
In the Basic functions it's the same like CryRCon or rconnect(Map - Change, Ban, Kick)... But i want to build some features, for example a small FTPclient to load up levelrotation.xml or a new server.cfg...

Also, i want to setup up a Statspage for all MWLL Player... With the most played Map and Server, so that all users of the Tool are able to upload the Data to that Page.(The Statspage is only available if it's okay for the Devs)

What about gametracker.com ? Don't they do that already?

Thats right Seraph but i thought that our Community is big enough to have their own Site. and nothing against gametracker.com but i think we can have one like omg.crystats.com

If the Dev team have some other Ideas or is against these Idea it's okay :)

the thin is though hat you will bind people to your tool in order for the stats to work. Nothing against that but gametracker can pretty much handle stats without the need of adding a tool locally or on a server/client. Not sure how useful those stats would be without servers using the toll - that's all :)

cheers

no i don't want to bind :) ....ascertained Ideas about the complete Tool come tomorrow evening (Sunday).

The Idea with the Stats comes from bf2 and Crysis... gametracker is quite nice but i need to know the server and i don't find a way to see my stats on every map :)

My Idea behind the Statspage is that every user of this Community can lookup his own Stats on every Server on one view :)

But Seraph thanks for the good questions and answers... between this post and the last one i exclude the Statsfunction out of the tool because it would make the tool to large :)

I hope we can dicuss the functions further if the first beta is released  :)

If we're talking about an alternative to Rcon, I'm all for it.  Especially if there's any chance it will work better with gameservers.

yeah is actually supposed to be an alternative... at this state of developmemnt i build the interaface and all required functions and Methods.... after that i'll get over to the commands an connection handling...

Seems a little reverse, as the commands will become the basis for the interface.
Unless you have a connection setup already established and tested, that's the aspect that will make or break the interface.
Like the floppy disk was created before the floppy drive.
On the other hand setting up a class to handle the commands and connection handling makes sense as that will be how they will be handled regardless.
Otherwise you run the risk of making a fully functional interface that may not be able to connect or send commands, unless you already have a tested class capable of doing so.
Always
return $this=void(0);

The connectionhandling is one of the things that will be cost more time to build... but the interface are only classes with basicfunctions like "press the button" or "click the Mouse".

[irony on]Threadhandling is so wonderfull[ironie off]

i think the rcon commands are one part of the basics.... but first the easy things and after that comes the rest :) and all handling of the Serverrequestcommands run in the background and have nothing to do with then interface... when the data is rehashed one class transfer they to the interface...
