Abuse? That's how it actually works! (provided the mech in question is an omni, OR the BA in question have mag clamps).

Although standard BA can only hitch a ride on OmniMechs, there exists gear (magnetic clamps) that allow BA to attach themselves to any mech (or vee able to support the weight). I can see this being a 'standard feature' as being used as a 'legitimate' excuse for BA being able to hitch rides on any mech/vee.

With the Current Rules BA can ride any Omni ground unit (vehicles and mechs), the BA clamps do allow BA to ride non omnis though.

I do not know if they can ride on OmniVTOLs though they can on the inside, out side that I do not know, and they certainly can not ride on the out side of an Omnifighter (but space can be made for them on the inside).

I'm not talking about the claw (which allows BA to ride omni mechs/vees via holding the BA rungs; I'm talking about magnetic clamps, a piece of special BA gear which allows a BA to ride any mech (or appropriate vee).

If they did have wires...It be like they are spider man or something, But i thought the BA wire was used for Very high mountain climbing where the jumpjet would not be enough?
They fire from an attachment below the claw, so sort of like spiderman, and yeah it is for really high ledges, often for scaling walls and bases.

Also, they make FAR less noise than a Jump Jet would. Better covert ops that way.

Not to rain on all of your parades, but there is little distinction between omni and standard vehicles in this game.  If battle armor gets the ability to ride, they're going to be riding every capable vehicle on their team.
Thanks for the view.

Indeed, also you should know that in order to support the additional weight, things have to be removed to support the elemental area.

whats the big deal about needing a vehicle to be omni in order for BA to ride it into battle?

1. Take a few U-shaped pieces of metal
2. Weld the metal pieces to anything
3. TADA someone can hold on.

Wherever mechs are needed, I am there

Rofl, no no no.  It is FAR more complicated than that!  It needs to be an omni-pod docking hitch, and yes, there are different receiving docks for Clan and IS clamps.  As of 3048, Clan BA use the more efficient 4-pronged claw, as opposed to the outdated 3-prong claw still in use by the Inner Sphere, and therefore these omni-docks must be different.  You wouldn't want IS hitching a ride on your Clan mech, would you?  Of course not, that would be preposterous.  Additionally, due to various environmental extremes and failure rate of the BA claw, each receiving dock is outfitted with explosive bolts, operable by both the BA or the mech pilot.  There is also an extensive counterweight system that is built into most lower-weight battlemech gyros intended to offset the weight of a BA or multiple BA's, but generally it will only support so much additional weight before additional saving roles are required, especially on lower friction surfaces.

All of this is readily available in the 3050 TRO.

how about this...

ba can attach for as long as they want
mechs and tanks can have BA pods
but any vehicle that has an enemy elemental attached to it has a blinking color coded ring/bracket around his radar blip and some kinda floating icon above the player vehicle, similar to the direction indicators of narcs

think of it like a distress beacon.

In this way a BA can deliver as much punishment as possible while attached, but its tempered by the  fact that now everyone on the other team essentially knows where to score a free kill.  So in order to tear in with impunity like a fat man at a buffet you have got to claw a lone mech with the most apathetic teammates in the world, otherwise your time is limited by pure risk of advertising your position

all in all its fairly similar to the way hunters work in left 4 dead.

also, i still the the u shaped handles thing is funnier

This is indeed a good idea.
And even if you know a BA sticks to your teammate, you'll have to find that BA first  ;D

And knowing the typical MWLL player he will deal more damage to the mech then the BA ever could: "Yeah my 2 UAC20s have him right in the crosshairs, hold still"  ;D ;D ;D

You guys joke, but I've actually been fired on while jumping around an enemy mech. They were trying to hit me with PPCs and ended up legging their teammate.

I did not joke, I have actually seen people trying to shoot me off their teammates head with UAC20s (or SRMs, LBX and even a Gauss)......
