Elemental hitching rides on Omnimechs

Is there any work on that aspect of the game where certain Omnimechs have the hardpoints where elementals hitchrides on. just to ask would it be easy to program it like a vechical slot which you can also aim your weapon with at the same time.

I believe that there's not going to be hardpoints per se, but with the implementation of the BA claw, BA can hitch a ride of friendly (or enemy) Mechs pretty much at will.  Maybe someone else could shed more light on this.

There's been talk of getting the BA claw working to get this implemented.

I've been meaning to ask: are BA claws fixed or can they be fired like a grappling hook?

As far as I know (which isn't very far) the Claw was primarily a melee weapon that happened to also allow BA to clamp onto Mechs.  I don't think either the Elemental or Longinus had a grappling claw ala Batman.  That would be quite interesting though (snag an aero, what happens?).

The Elemental claw is really for grabbing handles for rides on omni mechs and for ripping off enemy armor according to lore.  They're not fired, but are attached to the battle suit.

There is a BA repelling wire, but it is not a part of the claw unit.

If they did have wires...It be like they are spider man or something, But i thought the BA wire was used for Very high mountain climbing where the jumpjet would not be enough?

It's specialist equipment either way.  Just imagine, though, plinking one of these wires so that as you walk away, you can retract back to cover without using jumpjets.

Sneaky stuff.
Thanks for the view.

Although standard BA can only hitch a ride on OmniMechs, there exists gear (magnetic clamps) that allow BA to attach themselves to any mech (or vee able to support the weight). I can see this being a 'standard feature' as being used as a 'legitimate' excuse for BA being able to hitch rides on any mech/vee.

Actually, I did this last night with a bud for a little while.

The results were mixed, and I think the addition of an attachment point would lead to abuse.

When on my bud's mech, all was fine when I "crouched" when on him at full speed....right up until he hit his jump jets.
At that point, we just looked damn silly as he'd jump, and fall at a faster rate than me as a BA, so I was kind of like a top hat falling on a cartoon character a second after he made contact.
Also, the ManpackPPC knocks you right off when firing, etc.

I encountered maybe two times it was useful for him, rather than me so much, to have a set of eyes to see the incoming Aeros and enemy BA's. Oddly enough, I just wanted to see how useful it was for me to TAG for his LRMs.

There seem to be enough detractions from doing it all the time, as you end up more useful when not riding them I think. It didn't take long for me to figure it out.
While the claw/attachment point sounds cool, I can see an Atlas with like 4 BA's hanging like Christmas ornaments, rolling out, unloading at once, with BA's mopping up and other scenarios of abuse.

I wouldn't call that abuse.
