I seem to recall some mech game (About the same time as MW3), but darned if I can remember the name of it (they had much smaller mechs than MW, but they were bigger than Heavy gear, proper mechs), where the mechs had 'active camo', which basically grabbed the textures from the terrain and slapped them on the non-window, non-insignia parts of the mech. Can't remember if it was done every second or continuously, but it looked very cool, and struck a good balance between concealment and visibility to the alert watcher. Would sneak suits would be like this, or just make most of the player transparent?
