In translating CBT rules to real time, I find there are occasional logical gaffs like the two-shot ultra autocannons and, pursuant to my subject, pulse lasers.
The current burst, though very cool, does not seem to properly simulate the accuracy advantage of pulse lasers. The problem stems from the fact that a lot happens while that burst occurs, and you can guarantee hitting a target with all or most of that burst unless you're very close.
So, I suggest making pulse lasers fully automatic, with an individual heat meter like RACs. Give them a short, fully automatic burst that they can stagger over time to create more consistent fire.
It occurs to me that this would make pulse lasers a lot like those in Mechwarrior 2, only without the lame machine-gun tracer animation.
