MWLL wants you

Yes, it's true. MWLL wants you. Bad rhymes aside, the team behind MechWarrior: Living Legends is actively searching for fresh blood to reinforce its ranks. We have created an overview of our minimum requirements for certain departments. These, together with some additional info, can be found in the "Join Us" section.

Please note that this invitation goes out to everyone who has skills that might be useful when it comes to creating a total conversion modification. However, please also understand that certain limitations we installed earlier remain in effect: we are still NOT looking for consultants, writers, advisers or testers with this call and applications for any of these or similar positions will simply be ignored.

Are you guys really that understaffed? I thought the dev team was 40+, but I'm seeing a few of these posts going round.

Really hope you get some good talent though  :)

There are grand plans for MWLL, and unfortunately there is also a limited pool of talent.  Options are 1) reduce the scope, or 2) expand the pool.  I like #2.

Yeah that'd be my choice too. By the way, what sort of talent do you need most anyway? I was toying with the idea of learning to map since I think I'd fail miserably at pretty much anything else

EDIT: if you're serious about finding new talent you should post this on your Moddb page too. And add 0.2.0 there while you're at it  :)

...By the way, what sort of talent do you need most anyway?...

The link in AoP's original post sums up the general needs of the team.  I don't think at this juncture they are looking for people who are "toying with the idea of learning to map", although I'm sure they would encourage any such contributions in the Community Created Content section of this forum.

I'm a professional developer, but I don't really want to devote the time to implement major features, or spend 6 months learning a million line application. Is there room for someone to fix the occasional known bug? Whats the size of this thing (in lines of code) anyway?

I see a lot of people posting in user map creation threads that could really led a hand in terms of development.  We all know that building a the mech game of our dreams will be labor intensive, so doing it right will either take more people or more time.   I think some guys out there are underestimating their own abilities.  My current project would take me forever to finish by myself, I could personally use help from people with even moderate 3D studio max skills or texturing ability.  If you are putting your effort in to user maps, and happy with your results.  You could probably contribute here. :)

Hard question to answer.  Seraph is working some magic here in a sec to give you a relative answer.  Chances are it doesn't include anything from the Flash or FMOD Engine side though.

I personally know that my local DEV build with all of the decompiled elements is just over 28 Gigabytes in size.

Aah, I wasn't saying you should actually hiring me. That would be a disaster for all involved.  ;D If I do spend some time tinkering with Sandbox and Geocontrol it'll end up in the community section.

I think you could use a bit more PR though, especially if you're looking to hire. Why not do some interviews or try and score some articles on various gaming sites? The more people reading anything MWLL related (whether on this site or not) the more likely you are to get applications, especially if you can work in a request for help.

All you gotta do is contact a few sites and offer to give them an overview of who you are, what you're doing, and what the future plans for the mod are. Tell them you'll answer whatever questions you're able to, you'll provide screenshots and you'll give them a bit of info on upcoming mechs or features or something of that nature. If they don't want a full interview offer to give them enough text with good information and quotes to easily produce a full article without having to contact you again. Basically try and make it as easy as possible for these sites to produce an interesting article. And of course tell them that in return you want the article to link to your site and to mention that you're looking to hire. Since this amounts to only a couple sentances I can't imagine anyone's going to refuse this.

There are lots of sites that would be interested in running something like this, I think. Moddb regularly interviews mod teams that have less to say and less to show than you guys, and these interviews end up on the front page. This gaming site is currently doing weekly interviews with mod  teams, so they'd probably be interested. I also noticed you've made it onto some pretty major gaming sites like destructoid, rockpapershotgun and kotaku without even contacting them, so I imagine if you got back to them and offered to give them what they wanted they'd be happy to run something. Just google mechwarrior living legends and take a look at all of the sites you've already made it on to. Every one of these is a potential source of future publicity if you approach them and play your cards right  :)

Just wondering, are you also looking for animators? I have a 1 and a half's years experience with modelling and animating on Maya. I'm better at animation than modeling/texturing though.

In a groundbreaking new feature, MWLL will include a new gametype: MechRockerBandHeroKersplosion.  Pilots will smash the throttle to classic 80's speed metal using custom ethernet plugin to real guitars.  PPC's will be triggered by power chords, and LRM ammo is selected by playing one of 17 distinctive hammer-on rifts.  Get a teammate elemental to hop up on your mech's shoulder and throw up the horns, and with a hot duel you can deflect enemy fire BY THE POWER OF YOUR ROCK!
