Server Installation with Gameserver.com
« on: March 12, 2010, 11:34:14 PM »
Does anyone have a step by step method to installing the mod with Gameserver.com?

I read some people here use their services so I ordered the server with them thinking it would be all pretty straight forward, but so far having problems with step one.

Thanks,
MCL_Larry

Double post? :D

Don't upload the executable, upload the Mods folder itself to the crysis folder on the FTP account. They do not run EXE files on their servers to install software for you.

MCL_Larry,

Also be aware that gameservers.com adds a Configs folder to the standard Crysis folder structure. This folder is located at Crysis/Configs. This Configs folder is where your levelrotation.xml file and server.cfg file should be located. Alsorealize gameservers.com has a firewall. If you want to use remote control applications for your server, please know that I/O ports 09001 through 09050 are open in the gameserver.com firewall. So use one of these ports to connect remotely to your server.

Here is a link to the GameServers Forum -> http://forums.gameservers.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=25236

Some applications for remote Crysis server control are CryRcon, Rconnect, and the RCON command interface.

Also see the MWLL Wiki for further information about setting up your own dedicated server from your home computer and for examples of levelrotaion.xml and server.cfg files.  http://wiki.mechlivinglegends.net/index.php?title=Dedicated_Server

Good Luck,

Aidan  :)

Where do I need to upload the Mods folder to? Does it go into the main directory, or does it go into the bin 32 or bin 64 folder?

And thank you for your help :)

FTP the MWLL mod folder structure to the Mods folder of your gameservers server. So after the FTP transfer is done you will have the MWLL top level folder inside of the Mods folder on your gameservers server.

For example, if I am using the FileZilla FTP client, I left mouse click on the mwll folder on my client computer and I drag it over to the Mods folder on my gameserver server. If this is the first time you have done this, there may not be a Mods folder on your gameserver server. If this is the case, then drag the Mods folder from your client computer and drop it into the Crysis folder on your gameserver server.

One more question, on the server startup on the wiki says to right click send to desktop and in properties add this to the target line -mod mwll +exec server.cfg I take it that is for dedicated servers hosted on personal computer?

Yes you are correct. You control your gameserver server from your personal web page provided by gameservers.com. From this gameserver web page you can stop, restart, and rebuild your gameserver server. As a general operating practice, it is good to stop your gameserver server before doing any updates to the files on your gameserver server. Then of course, restart your gameserver server.

And another question, you stated the GS forums post and in that post it says to add this to the autoconfig.cfg  "rcon_startserver port:XXXX pass:MyPassword" minus the quotations, I see no autoconfig.cfg file.

I do not use an autoconfig.cfg file. I put all the remote connection server startups in my server .cfg file.

Go here for an example of my server.cfg file. http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/forum/index.php/topic,7307.0.html

I have removed any personal account information and passwords. These you will supply yourself.

Also I use CryRCON as my remote server control application. This application allows me to communicate with my gameserver server with RCON and XML/RPC protocols.

What application are you using to remotely connect to your gameserver server?

Ok I got CryCon 1.3.59 to work.

I also used your server.cfg and put a pw I think somehere I didn't need it because the server I finally got running with your settings with my pw etc, but I don't want a pw as of now, only when conducting league matches. But for now I want it open for anyone to join. So I tried to join it using the password and it said "Failure to connect, map version is different from the server".

Any ideas?
