Bad Company 2 for PC
« on: March 14, 2010, 07:27:17 PM »
I've heard this game originally released with some horrible browser and connectivity issues. Have these been mostly resolved?

Do you feel the game is worth getting, particularly for multiplayer?

I am playing this game. At first there were some connectivity issues and the server browser is still painfully slow but it is getting better. Since I play on the same set of servers always, namely the Texas Teamplayers and Sovereign Forces servers, I can get to those servers very quickly by calling up the server history list once in the main game lobby. There are still areas of the world having problems with finding servers because of the DICE/EA GSP partner program. As a game service provider (aka GSP) you must be on the EA/DICE approved list for providing BC2 servers. DICE has not provided a dedicated server for home users yet. If you want to have a BC2 dedicated server, you must rent it through one of the approved GSPs.

Rumor has it DICE will provide some free DLC at the end of March. As for the game itself, it is really addicting. The more I play it, the more I like it. The graphics from the new DICE Frostbite engine look really good and the amount of destructible objects on the battlefield is AMAZING !

Once these connectivity issues are solved, IMHO, this game is well worth the $50.

Not to mention the numerous "Comments" directed at Modern Warfare during the SP campaign ;D

"If this was a snowmobile race I'd be beating you!"

The dialogue in Battlefield Bad Company 2 SP is soooooo funny sometimes. I found myself laughing out loud while playing the SP.

Good Job DICE !

I haven't played more than about 10 minutes of the single player, though I may just do that now for a bit :)

But the multiplayer has actually been growing on me.  Its funny how I wasn't really impressed with the beta demo since it was just one map and only Rush mode.  But the Conquest mode is really where its at for me because I find the Rush mode pretty much always ends up with the defending side winning unless your team is just terrible.
Play my free open source web game MiniMek - Urbie Defense!  Its "mega fun" but with mini meks!

You should try playing on the Texas Teamplayer servers in Rush mode. Many times the Defender loses. Those servers have some very good players. Especially in the evenings when the organized squads get on.

See, I've got a beef with Rush...

The Rush gamemode? I love it, it's one of my favourites in an FPS.

But /nobody knows how to play it/ D:>

In general random games against pubbers, either the defenders are special needs and don't know to /defend/, or the attackers decide they want to play at defending too and sit and camp thier own base.

Also, on the "Good job dice" topic:
Activision announce a map-pack with 1/3rd of the maps recycled from modern warfare 1. What's more, they will only be available for X-Box, and will cost you 1200-odd microsoft points.

On the flipside, Dice/EA announce a map pack on the same day - except this one is available on all platforms, and is completely free :3

I'm guessing I'm not the only one thinking that Activision have quite firmly taken the "Mantle of Ultimate Evil" from EA and put it on themselves ;D

Except everyone who played MW1, and now MW2 REALLY wanted some of the MW1 maps in MW2. They just gave the gamers what they wanted! Except for the huge price tag of course. And the maps are for PS3 as well, not sure about PC, but I assume they are as well. The only difference is, microsoft paid a HUGE lump sum of money to get rights to content before anyone else. Thus xbox gets the maps a few days (Maybe a week or something) earlier before anyone else.
