BA should NOT have PASSIVE PADAR!!!
« on: March 17, 2010, 05:53:45 AM »
Here's why:

I had a BA follow me back to base with passive radar, creeping like a ninja the whole way. He knew i was damaged.
I went in to base for repairs after mixing it up oppsing mech's face on like the game is intended.

I came out ready to go at it again, and hiding in the trees using PASSIVE RADAR he took pot shots at me with the "BLUE BA CANNON".

Now, I play BA when my mech gets blow up and take on mech out in the field, but I am telling you right now, BA should not have PASSIVE RADAR period...

Now, I am sure that there are people who will say "the only thing BA has is passive radar to survive, and yes, I understans that as well.

SO what is the tactic I should have used for the :::BA NINJA TRICK:::

hahaha

Well you see radar works on the principle of things getting bounced back to it and a little metal man running amongst ground clutter is hard to see. Mechs also use a magnetic radar which sees large concentrations of metal to show up but once again the BA is alot of composites rather then all metal by design.

BA NINJA TRICK

So, to clear this up so you understand what happened a bit better, BA don't have passive radar, they're just very hard to detect on standard radar because of the extremely small radar cross-section.  Good BA players can use this to their advantage by firing weapons at you from beyond the range they can be detected (like the BLUE BA CANNON, otherwise known as the Manpack PPC), making it seem as though you're getting attacked from nowhere.

Tactics you can use:
1) Call for help.  Certain Mechs/Vehicles are extremely effective against BA, and hopefully your teammates will be willing to kill it for you.

2) Watch for where the fire is coming from.  If you were in a freshly repaired Mech, a single BA with a PPC isn't really a threat.  Calm down, relax, and find where it's shooting from; use the appropriate weapons to take it out: Lasers, MG's, Splash damage weapons, etc.  Also, look for Jump Jet trails if the BA is jumping, the trails tend to be very easy to spot.

3) If it starts to rush you, backpedal away from it.  Most Mechs can outrun a BA even while moving backward, and BA tend to be much easier to deal with at range.  By backpedaling, you keep it at range while limiting its lateral movement, making it much easier to hit.

4) Ditch the Mech and fight it out as a BA.  This isn't really recommended if you're not good at BA fights/not familiar with BA's.

Just practice against BA, they've already been nerfed pretty hard, and some players simply view them as easy kills.
Played MWLL for Guillermo del Toro.

*0 degree turn*

I like jump-jetting and looking around visually to check for BA jetpack trails.
Also, when you are in mid-air, it is easier to shoot down at BAs with splash weapons (PPC, UAC20).  Like you would do in a BA with a ManPack PPC, jump up and shoot down at a BA that has landed and expended its jump fuel -- only you do it in a mech.

Is this the Portable User Radar Suite Expansion from PradAeroespace Technology or the one from Lius Vongtang Heavy Industry?

The BA can be only detected around 100m for normal radar, it's just another reason why C3 is so important but often ignored :p

I hate C3, ever since this is ingame I constantly get LBL-popped by people 600m away  :'(

It would only be fair to give us C3 and some expensive equipment raising our radar to standart mech levels  ;D
